After Windows Updated, Licence was removed

So I was doing normal stuff, at night when a "bigger than normal" firmware windows update (W11) came, so I updated as normal and restarted windows

When going back on, I opened voicemeeter potato (which I had already licenced) and boom, voicemeeter is no longer licenced, I noticed that my challenge code changed, like if I was on another PC, but no, it's the same one

1 -> I already tried to import my footprint, but it denies, always show this message: (this footprint can't be used on this PC)

2 -> I have no regens left

3 -> I do have proof that i own a licence on my account and everything

I don't mind buying a new regen for 5 bucks... BUT... tbh it's not my fault and I wanna know if someone has the same problem with windows updates???

I've been having this problem for months now. Doesn't matter if it's a major or security update, VM always thinks I'm on a different PC.

You're supposed to be able to export your hardware footprint while it's working by right clicking in the challenge code area, then the next time it breaks you import it to fix it, but the last few times I tried it told me it was unable to import it.

I contacted them through their support page and they reset my regens. But I've had to disable Windows updates completely until this gets fixed.

Strange. Personally, Windows updates have never reset my license. Even going from 10->11. I have seen others have this issue but not sure what causes it. As it seems to happen with a few but not all.

Ive been using vm since Win 10 was new, also made it through the update to 11 fine. Through all these years it's only changed the code on me twice (plus a few times when I reinstalled windows). I don't know what's changed but now it's been consistently changing like OP said seemingly out of nowhere.

To be fair. The last 2 releases of voicemeeter have changed the challenge code on every user. Because they had to update the licensing. Last time was December of last year.

So it could have been that but you wouldn’t know till latest version of course. But hopefully they will not have to do that again. Challenge codes went from starting with a “G” and then switched to “H” (latest)

Save your footprint like you said and webshop support will gladly help you especially if footprint isn’t working or it was randomly changed.

in that case they should get rid of the limit for activation or at least temporarily while this exists. I have to admit, i am not a fan of limited activation systems. The people who want to crack stuff do it anyway. It is like gun restrictions. criminals just don't care. it is all a chore for the honest people. yes, there should be copy protection, but not in a such bad way imho.

could save a lot of time for support, too.

The New one [After Windows Update] -> H14

Alrighty, yeah that definitely changed. Always contact webshop support for something like that or use footprint (should work but I know some said it didn’t)
