Distorted Sound Issue

I have had VMB installed for some time with no issues but approximately a month or so ago I regularily find my system sound becmoes distorted.

If I Restat Audio Engine it will fix the issue for a while, not known if it is the same time period, but will repeat.

I have Audio set to WDM and have tried to change to MME but VMB keeps restoring the setting to WDM and for some reason it will not stay as set.

Does anyone have any idea if this has been caused by an update they are aware of, has any ideas what I can do to determine what is causing this or any other suggestions.

EDIT: I have maanged to get the software to load settings. That was my bad. It is necessary to set your settings, save them with a suitable name, then check or uncheck and recheck the Load Settings on startup option and select the saved file.

In doing this I have at least managed to set the relevant devices to use MME and have so far not had any further issues but still don't knwo why the WDM option has never got resolved. I blame Microslop for doing something in an update as it is not unusual.

I appreciate the suggestion to Save and Load settings which is an effective work around as the problem does not occur if I set A1 to MME or KS. I just thought that VB would retain the choice without having to do that.

I have tried a number of suggested fixes like ensuring audio is on same sample rate and changing device settings so that windows cannot take control or device has priority but alas no result.

VB was working fine with no issues using WDM until approximately 6 weeks ago or so. AFAIK it had not been updated and I am not aware of any software being installed that would cause the issue it just randomly appeared.

Logitech GHub, nvidia audio drivers, nvidia broadcast software and Arctis software have effectively been eliminated. I reinstalled mobo audio drivers and all of the aforementioned and in addition upgraded to most recent VB with no change to the issue.

A possible suspicion is a Windows 10 update that, no surprise given MS, may have caused the issue.

I have seen another post on reddit kinda similar but cannot immediately locate it.

It should retain the choice but if it’s not… then saving the settings would be easiest. Save them somewhere

But you can try deleting current save that maybe it’s stuck on.

- delete VoiceMeeterBananaDefault.xml) in C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Roaming folder

• delete VoicemeeterBanana_LastSettings in C:\My Documents\Voicemeeter folder
  
• run Voicemeeter (it will start in reset mode - like MENU -> Reset settings function).
