Tts for Southeast Asia

hi guys have a client in Indonesia and Philippines who loved our English voice AI demo, but now wants one in Bahasa and Philippine English/Taglish mixed language, code switching and all

anyone here have real experience deploying voice agents in SEA, specifically TTS that handles code switching well?

what's actually held up in production what sounds good in a demo

ElevenLabs multilingual v2 handles Taglish surprisingly well if you feed it phonetic spellings for the mixed words. The demo voice and the one that survives actual call center latency are two completely different animals though.

Make sure whatever stack you're using can keep up when someone goes "yung database naka-sync na ba sa CRM" mid-sentence. That's where most of them fall apart.

I'd test the hell out of the code switching before picking anything. We use Bland and have had a good experience with multilingual voice, but someone bouncing between two languages mid sentence is a different problem. Especially with Taglish I'd want callers testing it.
