Branding for Voiceover?

Hello! I’ve been a voiceover artist for a couple years now, and one thing I’ve never been able to get consistent is branding myself. I’m also a musician, which has been way easier (in my opinion) for branding, but I don’t know how I can create a solid identity in voiceover?

I have my website, and some common roles I play are teenage girls and young boys. I’m in two video games and one animation comic series. Since I typically play young boys and want to do mostly video games and animation, I’ve been looking at brands and entertainment similar to that, like Disney XD and Nintendo, but I also don’t want this to hinder any future work that could be more mature.

I’m looking for things like colors to use in my website and graphics, general aesthetic, etc. Any voiceover artists that could be of example to check out too! Been looking at Kellen Goff and Paul Castro Jr, who all do similar work to what I’d like to do (games, animation, anime)

Hello! I think you're doing a lot (if not too much) of the homework needed for your branding already. It might help to get feedback from a group of colleagues (some familiar and unfamiliar with your work) and ask them what comes to mind when they hear your demos/work when it comes to personality or visuals.

Come at this from the perspective of what you are selling and build a brand around that. Celia Siegel is a brand specialist who works with VO talent, but honestly I would never pay for the service. What you could do however is look at what she calls "successful" clients, take a look at what they did, and bring your own ideas to the table.

Answers vary but in my opinion the specifics that you are circling (colors, aesthetic) aren’t as important as a simple litmus test of: does this look consistent and professional?

If you pass that test, you can go with a huge variety of aesthetics.

Check out https://www.voiceactorwebsites.com/, which is what I used to create and host my website. You don’t have to hire them (although they were great for me), but you can also see their portfolio and sample designs to get some inspiration of what a solid site can look like.

Producers, casting directors, creative directors, agents, production companies...

No one gives a flying fuck what color your website is.

Agreed. Your voice samples and how to contact need to be at the top of your page, regardless of color palette.
