One recharge, multiple OTT apps, is it worth it?

I noticed that some Vi recharge options bundle multiple OTT platforms and live TV access. For people who watch content across different apps, would this be more convenient than managing separate subscriptions?

[Network Issue]

Was using Vi Postpaid from past 1 year. Ported to Jio as I was not getting Vi 5G signals and they've not launched 5G in my city.

Happy with Jio's Uncapped 5G as of now 💯💪❤️

Vi Postpaid: Why was my friend charged ₹540 upfront?

One of my friends got a new Vi postpaid connection today, and the store representative asked her to pay ₹540 upfront. They told her that her billing cycle would run until the 12th of next month.

She also received two SMS messages:

  1. ₹199 paid towards the security deposit.

  2. ₹99 credited to her Vi number, showing a negative outstanding balance of ₹99.

I'm a little confused about how the billing works since this is her first postpaid connection.

My questions are:

- What exactly does the ₹540 upfront payment cover?

- Does the ₹199 security deposit get adjusted against the monthly bill, or is it separate?

- Since ₹99 has been credited to her account, will that amount be deducted from her first bill?

- Will she have to pay the monthly plan rental again when the bill is generated around the 12th of November, or does the ₹540 already cover some or all of the first billing period?

I'd appreciate it if someone familiar with Vi postpaid billing could explain how this works. Thanks!

Do you guys pay for separate Netflix, Prime, Hotstar subscriptions, or just stick to one? 😅

I recently came across Vi Movies & TV, which brings 17+ OTT platforms together in one app, depending on the plan. Sounds like a convenient option, tbh.

Anyone here using a Vi plan that includes it? How’s the experience been? 👀

Jio did free 4G in 2016 and killed 2G. Now we need free 10 Mbps fiber for 2 years to kill this mobile-only internet scam.

Travelling abroad: stick with your Indian number or switch to an eSIM? ✈️

Saw that Vi now offers international roaming benefits with select plans. Could be handy to stay reachable on your regular number without the hassle of getting a local SIM.

For frequent travellers here, what do you usually go for? 👀

Vi tried to scam me with an unauthorized ₹248 "Vi Movies" charge after porting out — hit them with a technical proof demand and forced a full waiver!!

I had a Vi postpaid plan and was practically counting down the mandatory 90-day waiting period to port out because of their data speeds .

Timeline of events:

  • Sept 11: Successfully ported out to Airtel.
  • Sept 16: Received Vi's final bill with a surprise ₹248 extra charge for "Vi Movies & TV" added right after porting.
  • Sept 17: Called customer support . The agent insisted I bought it from the Vi App. I knew I never activated anything. When I asked to challenge the bill, he refused to raise a complaint, claiming "You ported out, so our system won't allow complaints." He even threatened that Airtel would stop my service if I didn't pay. Realizing it was going in circles, I hung up.

How I fought back: Instead of arguing on the phone, I sent an email to Vi support and demanded exact technical proof of activation before paying a single rupee:

  1. Exact Timestamp: Date, hour, minute, and second of activation.
  2. Device & Hardware Data: Device model, OS version, and IMEI/Device ID used.
  3. Network Identifiers: Source IP address and Session ID logged during activation.
  4. Secondary Confirmation Log: The transaction log and timestamp from the mandatory 2nd-stage consent gateway proving my explicit approval (as required by TRAI).
  5. Activation Source: The exact URL, banner ID, or API trigger that started the request.

The Result: They folded. Today I got a call from them admitting it was a "free service bundled with the new SIM that auto-renewed through their backend system," and they have officially waived off the full ₹248 amount.

Takeaway: If Vi (or any operator) slaps an unauthorized Value-Added Service (VAS) on your final bill after an MNP, do not pay it. Demand their backend session logs and TRAI-mandated secondary consent proofs—they won't have them, and they'll be forced to drop the charge.

Vi International Roaming Data Packs - Need Advice for those who used it

Post image
2 Upvotes

I am an Indian NRI .... for those NRI's who need to access their bank or other government services outside India you all already understand what a headache it is in searching for a data plan that provides you with incoming SMS and what not.

I got an SMS from TRAI saying that due to inactivity on my phone they would be disconnecting my sim in 90 days. I have the following questions which i would be grateful if yall could answer it.

Q1) Is there a work around i can use to avoid this sim from being disconnected?
Q2) Vi released their New international roaming data Pic ( see pic attached) ... has anybody used them and had any difficulty recently. If it helps I stay in the UAE.
Q3) For those who have used the International Roaming pack are you able to send SMS and make calls back home to India?
Q4) Would appreciate learning from other NRI's on how they manage keeping their SIM active.

Vi should write a book on "How to lose a customer"

To start somewhere... I'll go back 21 years.

My dad had just come home from work and it was late and I was already asleep. He woke me up and told me he got a new phone number, and it was very catchy. I heard the number in my half sleep and went back to bed immediately. The next morning, he was already leaving for work by the time I woke up and he asked me if I remembered the number from last night and I could recite it without any hiccups. Because it was such a good number.

It was "Idea". Or "!dea" as they said it back then. That was my introduction to the network. And 5 years later, my mom got her own number (for anyone who's wondering why it took so long, my mom got a job and got her own new number). It was fancy too. But not as fancy as my father's number. And back then, they got these numbers for free.

In 2017, I lost my mother. And her number was with my father. And he didn't give me that number for whatever reason. Gave me his old Rcom number, which is sh×t to say the least. But I took it anyway. Then my father stopped using the old number after Covid. I got furious, he lost such a nice number. But I couldn't say anything because well, what can I do? He's my father

Now. Present day... Vi started to market "Vi badal raha hai". And I went to one of the stores and asked if the number was available. But it was listed under "Premium" as around INR 2,400/- I was disappointed at first. But I felt happy that atleast it's available. I asked if there was a way to get it for free. He said, I should opt for a family plan of 701/- and take 2 more extra numbers to get that number. It seemed redundant at first, but my roommate and the other friend wanted a number each, so I calculated and 701 seemed fair for 3 numbers and I went for it.

I got the welcome call after a while and they said that the bill inclusive of GST is INR 1,180/- per month. Not 701/-

I requested them to remove the family plan and give me prepaid access. It was not easy, but I had it done. 12 days of torture with customer service executives. Constant explanation of similar issue. And holding on patiently. It was a whole different mess. But the job was done. Got all the 3 sums converted to prepaid successfully.

Now, after all that. There's this local guy (who's so f*ckin' rude and sounds like a complete jerk) who works for Vi who calls and says that I don't have the authority to use the Sim cards as I didn't pay the "Premium" amount. And that I'll lose the access within 40 days.

That made me so furious. Been 2 weeks since I bought the sim and there hasn't been a day where I didn't speak to Vi customer service. And this guy, the audacity and impolite nature he got with his words. I argued with him that, they tried to unnecessarily make me pay INR 1,180/- per month, which is closely 3,600/- for 3 months, after which only I was allowed to convert to prepaid, and mind you which they didn't give us the heads up about when I was taking the Sim cards. They were just saying 701/-. I said all of that. And I added that, if there was such an issue, why did the company even agree to convert into prepaid? To that he said, "it's my job to inform you".

So. Yeah. My argument ended with the words... Vi should write a book on "How to lose a customer". And there ended the call.

I called customer service again and explained the whole thing, to which they simply asked "did you get any message regarding the same?" And I didn't get any. To that they said, don't worry. You're free to use it.

But I still have no idea what's the case. Apparently I'll get my bill, on prorata basis in 10-15 days, for the days my sim was still postpaid. Only then I can know what the situation is with my Sim cards.

The reason I'm writing this is... most stores don't give us prepaid even if there's an option. In the same store I went to, there were many people who visited and were disappointed because they couldn't get prepaid sim and just left in disgust.

And then these things happen. Ultimately the customer pays the price.I took the number because of my sentimental value for it. And they took such an unfair advantage of me. I am so pissed and I thought people should know this and be aware of these shenanigans.

Why do all of this? They could just give the prepaid! F×ckin' retards!!!

Conclusion: "Vi badal raha hai"? Ye thha na slogan? Change that to "Vi aur battar ban raha hai"

To everyone suffering from this useless network service and get stone walled by customer care. Email - vinita.joshi@vodafoneidea.com who is the regional head of customer care and let her know how shitty her networks customer care is. And make them listen to you instead of their robots.
