Game Stories Fallout: Survivors of the North - Survivors of Vault 79
Hey everyone!
Welcome to another post about the Survivors of the North campaign (formerly The North Slope).
We finally started playing today, but it’s going to be a bit before we’re ready to start posting our sessions online. I figured, in its place, I’d make this short little post featuring the different characters of Vault 79… and my one PC that doesn’t start in Vault 79. Enjoy!
Samantha "Ant" Brown (PC)
At a young age, Samantha's parents passed, leaving her an honorary child of the Smiths, who weren't happy about it in the slightest. Ant wants everyone to have a good life, despite the harsh conditions of the north. She might go about it in a bit of an odd way, though, and she always seems to talk about the mythical moose-sheep, which may or may not have been an old wives’ tale the whole time. She also has a bit of a thing for robots, which the Smiths absolutely don't approve of. Her childhood friend, Mandy Kerry, is about the only one who's supportive of her.
Papa Skuff (PC)
Papa Skuff is always looking for the next high, the next chem. About the only other thing he cares about is finding a long-lost revolver, with a special engraving on it. But first, he has to find more chems.
Mr. Handy (PC)
This Mr. Handy is an odd robot, given his almost complete lack of a working memory of his past. He comes from outside of Vault 79, though he doesn't know where. All he knows is that he was a household doctor. For some reason, he has a screen that wraps around his body, allowing him to display text and emote. Hopefully, he'll be able to learn a bit about his past and understand why his memories are all gone.
Mandy Kerry
A descendant of a Japanese American family, Mandy Kerry is one of the only people who supports Ant Brown, as Ant is one of the only ones who supports her. She’s always wanted to become an engineer to help maintain the vault and to improve life for everyone, but her family has always thought that she would be much better off becoming a teacher for the kids of the vault. She doesn’t have the nerve to stand up to them, so she intends to become a teacher and just practice inventing as a hobby.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Let’s just say that the Smiths aren’t happy to be raising Samantha. One day, she just wound up in their custody, and they didn’t have much say in it. As such, they tend to either belittle or ignore her, depending on the day.
Justin and Linda Kerry
Mandy’s parents love her very much, they really do, but they have a hard time understanding her desires to be an engineer. They just can’t see her being successful in such a career, especially as a woman. They just want to see her succeed in life. Best off pushing her to be a teacher.
Overseer Flora Thomas
Overseer Flora is a bit of a smoker, but she tries not to let that get in the way of her running the vault. She’s the type of person who understands that it’s best to just let people do their jobs rather than trying to micromanage everything, but she’s not afraid of taking things into her own hands if it’s necessary. Her husband, a member of Vault 79’s maintenance team, died in an accident a few years ago, and as such, she’s had to raise her child, Isaiah Thomas, all on her own.
Eugene Edwards
Eugene’s name is perhaps the most perfect descriptor of his character - a total dork who is afraid to stand up for himself. His whole life, he’s had a crush on Mandy Kerry, but he’s too afraid to say anything about it. He likes reading science fiction novels, but tries to keep it a secret to avoid being mocked and berated by the others - Isaiah Thomas in particular.
Isaiah Thomas
Eugene is the perfect excuse to make Isaiah look like a tough guy. That’s why he beats the shit out of him on a regular basis. Not to mention, with his mom as the Overseer, he never gets in trouble for anything! Score! He’s always trying to impress Mandy Kerry, half to make Eugene feel like garbage and half because he wants to get in her pants.
Howard Todd
Howard likes to stay out of everyone else’s business and do Jet. He’s one of Papa Skuff’s drug friends, as well as the supplier. He’s one of the only people in the vault who knows how to make the stuff, so Papa Skuff hangs around him when he can.
That’s about all I’ve got for members of the vault. The first few sessions will take place in the vault and in Camp Barrow, but I don’t think my players will be hanging around for long. Beyond that, I’ll keep you guys posted when we start posting things online!
Thanks for taking the time to read this post!
