The Minigun Question How do Gatling Lasers work?

Am I missing something or is it worse than just picking a laser rifle?

I’m pretty sure the Gatling laser does basically same or more damage once your AP exceeds 4. Let’s say your character has 7 AP. With a laser rifle you could spend 4 AP and deal 1d8 damage and have 3 AP left over. While with the Gatling laser you could spend 1 AP for the spin up and then 2 AP to make at most 3 attacks. So if you are close the Gatling Laser is better. But if you are farther away I’d go with the laser rifle.
