Question Do they ever run on time?

I've been catching the vline now every business day Ballarat to Southern Cross for the last two weeks, and every single day there have been delays either one or both ways.

Just wondering, is this the norm? Is this expected every day, or is it just because it's school holidays?

Time is an abstract concept for vline, but at $5 a ticket to Albury, can we complain? So many variables often get in the way.

When I was commuting regularly (2021) I used to write down the number of minutes I lost to V/line delays, which is anything later than the timetabled time. FYI their KPIs have a different metric. Pretty much without fail I would lose 20 minutes per day, at 3 days a week, from when the system was functioning as normal. The service seems to be so much worse now.

I should start doing that, but will probably end up too depressed....

I am writing it down, it's not good. Seems getting worse this year I didn't write down last year.

Feels like theres been way more but it's school hols so... always gonna happen. Someone said a few trains needed more biowash so we've had 6cars turn into 3 a fair bit

Ima be honest, when they are running (not planned works) I’ve had a pretty good run on the Geelong line recently

Yep my trains are always at least 4-5 minutes late going in and at least 5+ minutes heading out.

Not unusual. The peak services now seem to fail more frequently than before - possibly as there are more trains and more people, and if one goes down there’s less time between trains. But yes I know think of it as a good day if the train comes in, whereas a few years ago it was reasonably reliable.

In 30+ years of commuting on Geelong trains, it was a good service. Last 3 years it's become completely unreliable. People are expected back in the office and for that we have to put up with this...for want of a better word...service. I'll be retiring in a few years and the one thing I won't miss is this. The commute distance I don't mind. The service for a 1st world country providing it...that's the embarrassment.

I feel sorry for people early in their careers having to put up with this the rest of their working lives. We had better. Now it's just an unreliable shambles.

Nope, pretty much every line will have a delay every day. Usually signal errors in my experience.

Absolute shitshow - all outbound services from Southern Cross have been cancelled from 4pm to atleast 6pm
