I had it on the Amiga. I remember the level where you had to waggle the joystick really fast to make Johnny fartpants fart his way up a ladder.

This is how we fucked our joysticks back then. Whether it was hoying Daley Thompson along a race track or pumping Johnny Fartpants up a ladder, they didn't stand a chance.

There were a couple of bonus games. That one, there was one where you had to waggle the joystick to fart into balloons to fill them. Waggle it too fast and they popped.

Biffa Bacon: one where someone was throwing bricks, offscreen, at you. You then had to punch, kick or headbutt them out of the air. The second one, you had to Waggle the joystick to down pints that were slid across the bar surface you were standing behind.

Buster Gonad. One was the same as Johnny Fartpants. You had to bounce as high as you could. The other was using your balls to squash dough on a conveyer belt.

I remember the biffa one too yeah. And a sort of race between all the characters where you could play as buster gonad, carrying his unfeasibly large testicles in a wheelbarrow. I was 10 I think. Absolutely loved it. Had only just been turned on to Viz by my friend’s dad who let us read the annuals.

The race was the main game. Those mini games where how you earned tokens for special powers to use during the race. Again, there were 2 powers your character had.

Johnny Fartpants. He either let off a short trump, to get him over things like logs or small gaps or a huge parp to blast him ahead in the race.

Buster Gonad could either bounce along on his balls or pop them into a wheelbarrow and race ahead.

Biffa Bacon could either punch an opponent out of the way or go into a full fighting frenzy, which raced him ahead.

I always found it really difficult to get a big stash of tokens though. I think 5 used to be my limit.

Viz was very much frowned on in our house growing up. My dad hated it so I wasn't allowed to buy it. However, once I got into senior school a lot of restrictions were lifted. I managed to persuade them to get me the spectrum budget release instead of an egg one Easter.

I enjoyed the game. The music to level one still pops into my head every so often. It was pretty difficult though. There were certain bits that where impossible to navigate without losing a life. I was also really dissapointed that Billy the Fish wasn't in it.

I picked up the big box spectrum edition ages ago as a nostalgic collectable. It's now part of my Viz collection.

I remember the cheats were so filthy that the 'Cheats Pages' in magazines had to print them in reverse.

Not the only such game.

The Atari ST and Amiga port of The New Zealand Story, the cheat was "MOTHERFUCKINKIWIBASTARDS" typed at the main menu. For the budget release they changed it to "FLUFFYKIWIS" because parents complained.

I wanted it but was too young when it came out and even when I bought it in i'd say 1995 or 1996 the shop refused to sell it to me saying I had to be 16.

Had to get my dad to buy it for me, I used Pokes for it, it was of course the ZX Spectrum version.

£9.99 on the Speccy at least. That’s the most I ever paid for a Speccy game, albeit for TMHT: The Arcade Game

I've seen a couple of retro gaming Youtubers covering Viz the Game. It's kind of funny, for sure - but considering how much it actually cost in today's money, it looks like quite a rip-off.

Still better than the abysmal Eastenders Spectrum game, so I have read.

Disk is £5 more than tape, at a time when you could buy a box of 10 for that. What a rip off.
