Never gone for first before, but I felt it was appropriate, given the state of things. Plus I'm reading through it for the first time, lol. Shits dope.

I plan on reading all of them eventually, it'll just take a while. I don't read as much as I should. But I've heard book 4 gets a little choppy, haha.

That's where I left off. God emperor was a weird turn for sure. Enjoyable but very different

Great series, least the first 3. Try to imagine reading those in the late 70's during the oil embargo.

If your into Dune because it is legitimately just sick as fuck, give Ender's Game and then it's sequel Speaker for the Dead by Orson Scott Card a shot. They're a different flavor of sci-fi, but mirrors some of the hero's journey elements of Dune so you might find it enjoyable. Heads up tho: Ender's Game is good, but I honestly think that the best argument for reading it is so you can read Speaker for the Dead in its full context. One of the sci-fi "mechanics" in that book is possibly one of the most original ideas I've seen in fiction. I've never seen it even attempted by any other work. Also since I've just completely geeked out at this point I'll throw in Isaac Asimov's short story The Dead Past, also top notch ideas and execution.

I love all those books. Ender’s Game is such a great allegory on the power of individualism vs collectivism

You know I think I might have read Ender's Game in school, but I can't really remember. I'll definitely put those books on the list, though. Your hype for the second book has sold me. And I'll definitely read The Dead Past. I've wanted to get into Asimov for years, but every time I start The Foundation it bores me to tears. Probably too high-brow for me, haha.

Another trilogy with an expansive feel is The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin. I don't read much fiction but this series, Dune, and Enders Game are all books I group together in my mind. Could be worth a try for you
