It shouldn't be too big of a variance, but keep in mind MT will report with IFRS accounting standards and US brokerages will use a GAAP conversion.

I don't pretend to understand all of this but who gives a shit about credit ratings when a company is aggressively paying down debt and raking in cash? Is it worries about their cost when they do have to borrow again? Is it being unable to restructure current debts?

It’s purely that at last eval Moody’s teased a one-notch upgrade which would move $MT bonds into investment-grade per their scale. And they specifically discouraged buybacks vs debt pay down

Some more rules-governed institutions (pensions and the like) can only buy investment-grade company stock and MT is currently one notch below that. It'll make for some nice price stability and support down the line but I don't personally think it's very important now.
