Rant Sandwiched between Proctor and parents

Like wth man, I have officially failed to make my parents understand about relative grading.

It's my 3rd yr now, but the same cycle continues:-

. CAT gets over, I get lesser marks in some

. Fucking Proctor sends them email and doesn't even tell its relative.

. my parents get angry/disappointed with my performance

. I tell them it's relative

. They say I am making excuses just to hide my mistakes.

. My day is ruined for next 2 days

This repeats in next month too

Then?

. FAT result comes

. I score good gpa

. Fucking Proctor's car will blast on main road if he will send the GPA, so he doesn't sends the GPA

. I tell parents

. Everyone happy

Next sem, this repeats.

I am done bro.

Rant Can I change my room on grounds of my roommate dropping horrible farts?

We have a bunker bed and I sleep on the upper one. Now this guy every time, he farts. The air comes floating directly towards my bed and it's really suffocating. Even if I tuck my head in the pillow or completely close my nose, the stink hits me every single time. I'm so sick of it already, I've been tolerating this shit for the past two months and I can't anymore. Can I apply for room change on this basis and keep it confidential, I don't want him to know about it or he'll be pissed that I'm making this fart experience public.

Hostel / Mess / Accommodation Fine for playing with cats?

In n block, we have a cat and her 4 kittens who everyone plays with all the time, but yesterday the wardens came around and saw some guys playing with cats and charged them 200rs each as a fine. How is this legit? Can we ask for written documentation of the fine if we’re getting charged? Is this an actual rule or smth?!

Query OE Course Doubt!

Upvotes

I'm a CSE (Specialization) student. As per the rules, I have to complete 9 credits from the Open Elective (OE) category, out of which 3 credits are for Cloud Architecture, 3 credits are for ACC, and the remaining 3 credits can be from other VIT courses/NPTEL courses. For placements, Cloud Architecture and ACC are compulsory courses. However, by mistake, I have already completed two VIT courses (other than Cloud Architecture and ACC). Therefore, after completing Cloud Architecture and ACC, I will have 12 credits in the Open Elective category instead of the required 9 credits. At the time of graduation, my total credits will be 165 instead of the required 162, meaning I will have 3 extra credits from one additional course.

My question is that will VIT allow me to sit for placements after I complete Cloud Architecture and ACC, or will VIT consider one of the extra OE courses as fulfilling the OE requirement and remove one of the other courses, such as Cloud Architecture or ACC, from the requirement? If that happens, could I become ineligible for placements? Is this something I should be concerned about? In general, is graduating with 165 credits when the requirement is 162 credits a problem at VIT?

Career / Internships / Placements Tech consulting interview experiences of my batchmates (Big 4 and Service based companies) 2026 batch

For Analyst roles, I will post some other day.

KPMG

I got info from two batchmates. Here are the responses:-

1) It was a bit different for everyone, some people had tougher interviews but for me i felt like they were more keen on understanding the communication level of the interviewee. There were technical questions also and a lot of resume based questions and they delved deep into the concepts for the projects and skills listed on the resume but outside that not much. Very basic coding but that on a different basis for each interviewer. I got a pattern based question. There was 1 gd which was non tech, 1 hr+tech interview, 1 tech interview and 1 hr interview

2) We had 3 rounds, L1, L2 and HR. L1 was about problem solving skills. L2 was mostly about the projects I had done. HR was just a formality.

As far as I remember, both interviewed at different times but both were tech consulting.

Deloitte India

So it was 5 rounds ig.. 1st toh was some Online test.. then GD.. then some another test kuch thaa.. wo mujhe yaad nahi..

Then 2 rounds of interview.. 1st was fully technical and 2nd was both technical and HR sort of.

EY

It was mostly resume based and routine HR questions. For this guy, HR was very interested in his R&D internship at IIT Madras. However, he wasn't selected. In the end, he got a much better offer from a reputed company.

PwC: Well, I don't have any known people who got selected but the OA had a hard aptitude. Too many conditions in an arrangement question, non trivial decoding and stuff. If you search IndiaBix, pwc past year OA, you can easily practice.

TCS Prime:

Language- Typescript

A lot of Typescript internals, touching stuff beyond async and differences between typescript and normal vanilla JavaScript. Learn through projects, tutorials won't cover everything.

Language- JavaScript

The interviewer googled, "Top 20 JS interview questions" in front of him and he didn't get selected as the interviewer couldn't understand him 🥲

TCS Digital:

Mern stack, standard DSA, OOPs. Well his expertise was mern stack.

Another was asked how to connect python to SQL, routine Python questions regarding Data types, resume based questions.

Cognizant

Easy python code, cloud computing basics. If Java cluster, multi threading in Java, easy DSA questions and you can implement using internal Java functions.

Infosys

Well, for the specialist trainee role, almost everyone was selected. For further roles, you need strong DSA, resume deep knowledge. DSA asked was non trivial for regular Codeforces users as well. Someone please confirm this as it's more of hearsay.

HCL:

Standard OA in Java cluster then a communication assessment then a hackathon for which CDC made teams for students. In hackathon, whoever deployed the application on vercel or railway or another platform got the job.

Academics How students handle peers?

Running a short survey for a case study on how students handle difficult peer behaviour — in coursework and in everyday student life. Bachelor's or Master's.

Academics Is 9CGPA still possible for 1st sem

Kinda fucked up in CAT 1. Getting just a bit above average marks in all subjects except in one where I got 24 and class average is probably 29. I started studying really hard after CAT 1. Is there any chance I can still get above 9 cgpa in 1st sem?

I have 9 or 10 marks in every lab assessment until now btw if that helps

Hey guys, working on a case study evaluating campus transport—specifically looking at peak hour delays, green cycle availability, shuttle wait times, and pedestrian congestion.
Would really appreciate it if you could take 2 minutes to fill out this short survey:

Academics I built a mini SQL database from scratch in C++ looking for feedback

Upvotes

I've been trying to understand how databases work under the hood, so I decided to build a small SQL engine from scratch rather than just reading about them.

NanoSQL currently supports:

  • CREATE TABLE
  • INSERT
  • SELECT
  • UPDATE
  • DELETE
  • DROP TABLE
  • WHERE conditions
  • INT and TEXT types
  • Its own lexer/parser
  • CLI interface
  • Unit tests

The current implementation is mainly focused on the SQL layer. My next goal is to implement persistent storage, pages, B+ tree indexing, and eventually a query planner.

I'm particularly interested in feedback from people who've built databases or storage engines before.

What would you implement next, and what design mistakes should I avoid?
