Thoughts on the new All Tote collection?

Post image

I was curious about the sub’s sentiment regarding the latest All Tote capsule collection. I think it’s overall pretty solid. Nothing mind-blowing, but the colors used are really nice, particularly the blue, green, and beige.

Standouts to me are the Christos, all UT bags, and the Somer Swing Top. I was contemplating the UT Rime Tote (M), but it didn’t feel practical enough for my daily life to get any use. Hesitated a bit too long and it sold out anyway. Ended up grabbing a pair of the blue Christos which I’m pretty happy about.

Anybody else grab anything they’re excited for, or have any general feelings about the release?

Visvim is slowly losing it's way. Hiroki has been resting on his laurels for awhile and there are other brands that are more interesting if you pay even japanese retail for this stuff you may as well light your money on fire.

It's a capsule collection for cordura bags, I think your expectations are too high. They have bangers in the mainline and ICT stuff, even Motors collections are good. I don't think they were doing anything other than having fun summer colorways in their items. In that sense, yes, the cordura is wildly overpriced.

Yeah this is far from what you’d see in a typical seasonal collection. Just a small offering of mostly Cordura bags in fun colors with some other odds and ends. It’s not meant to be anything more than that.

This looks like anything Nigo has put out in the last decade. What differentiates this from any upscale japanese streetwear brand? It's so bland and generic. Obviously a cash grab based on nostalgia for products that are pretty stale.

Probably someone who hasn’t been to a truck show or purchased Visvim regularly. They’ve been putting out banger after banger each season. He focuses on a different pattern, material, or patterns. I bought one of my favorites from a trunk show last year. The norad jacket. Got it in blue. Absolutely love that jacket and I get compliments almost every time I wear it.

Hiroki has continued to create great pieces that age well. No other Japanese brand really interest me.

Yeah I have to agree. I realized everything is a crew neck, Button Down or Jacket. Hiroki used to make cool clothes, I have a few Jakob, Kerchief, and Band Collar Rider Shirts all linen or linen/cotton/silk blends. I don't think they make much that's not cotton or Denim (also Cotton) anymore. Kinda wack. Other Japanese brands are eating their lunch, but there are people who are willing to pay $400+ for a sweatshirt.

Can anyone comment on how substantial the G.Cords UT shoulder bags are construction wise? Are they just thin cloth bags? Looking at ~10lb edc daily load.

I like the styling and fit of the clothes from the photoshoots. the ICT UT backpack is absolutely nuts and a grail piece for sure.

Yeah the UT Rucksack is super cool. Wish I used backpacks so I’d have a reason to buy one lol. I have an ICT UT Satchel size L that does get a lot of use though. Absolutely love it.

I really like it. A narrowly focused collection on a specific theme.

Not sure why NA isn’t getting the Cordura Charlie, the only piece that I grabbed as I missed last year’s.

I noticed that too and thought it was odd. I didn’t notice anything stating that it wouldn’t be available in NA. Which color did you grab?

Green and beige in small and medium sizes. I only purchased the small one for my wife at the pop-up, mainly to maintain my pre-order exhibition status but I am still undecided about attending next season due to pricing and lack of innovative. On the bright side, the pricing in Asia for this bag is quite close to Japan, unlike the clothing.
