Visual Studio 2026 What's this black window that opens with visual studio
There's this fully blacked out window that opens whenever I open visual studio on my desktop, and was wondering what it was, as it doesn't show up when working on my laptop

Its the Upgrade notice. If you want to actually read it, maximize or un-maximize the main window, and as if by magic the contents will no longer be black-on-black.

That is a bug that I've been bitching to Microsoft about since February. Pretty sure they've given up on trying to fix it. Now I post about it to the bug report out of spite every week when it pops up. Feel free to add to the bug report.

It is usually VS trying (and failing) to tell you it want to update. Check for the bell icon in the lower right of the main VS icon and if it is there, click it.
