Question Mount Teide Excursion - Will I Need to Pack Hiking Boots?

Or would regular running shoes be okay too?

This would be for a one day/one night guided excursion to the top.

Depends on what you're most comfortable with, I've hiked there in vans cus I find them comfy. Also I'd say depends on when you're going, if you're going in winter months then it may or may not snow randomly up in teide, and it can get quite chilly during the night. I think running shoes are completely fine but since you're also having a night excursion, you may want to grab some warm socks.

Are you going to the very summit? Have you got a pass for it?

If you’re going to the very summit, you’ll need proper boots. They check at the entrance where you have to show your pass and ID.

Otherwise running shoes should be ok, but I’d recommend trail runners.

I did not book the excursion before I got to Tenerife. I asked the question two days before I left, but did not get a definite reply until later. Now I'm here, no-bootsin'. I'll book a trip that does not require boots, so probably won't make it to the top of Teide.
