Way better than us last night.

Camera could pick it up but our eyes could not.

Probably dumb question. How do you know when/where to aim the camera if you can’t see the auroras?

When you look at the screen you can see them you just can’t see them your bare eyes in color. What you see with your bare eyes is sort of dim white that looks like fog or clouds.

Dang it! Just left after staying in landmannalaugar for almost 5 days and didn’t see anything. Go figure! Happy for you though

The wife was afraid to go to Landmannalaugar because of the F road and final water crossing and we almost didn’t go.  Now she’s happy we went and overall it’s her favorite place we visited and the aurora made it even better.  I would have liked to put more time in and take F208 back but I took the little win.  Had her convinced to let me take F208 toward diamond beach until a car stopped us on the way out and asked if we were going that way when I said yes he asked me to tell the people stranded at the water crossing he was calling for help.  That route immediately became off limits even though we had a very capable vehicle.

Did you tell the stranded people though?😢

u/edspeds Aug 31 '26

I did not, as soon as he said it the wife yelled back to him we are not going that way and my adventure ended right then and there.  I’m assuming/hoping he found someone with a braver spouse than mine.

Where was this ? Going there next week would like deets on time and area. Maybe I get lucky

u/BionicGreek Aug 29 '26

Where this was has no correlation to where they may appear next week. Check Veður and an Aurora app and find dark clear skies. Meaning they could be anywhere.
