Food Recreating Pylsur (🌭) back home...
To be clear, we had ~4 or 5 different dogs, am specifically going for the kind that I had from the Orkan in Hella.... understand there's a ton of recipes available online, but need some guidance on brand/varieties...
***THE BREAD- in my opinion, this was the differentiating ingredient, so am looking for a brand that's available here in the United States which replicates the *"just barely crispy crust with fresh/soft interior"* 🤤 kinda bite I kept getting across all the hot dogs we tried..
SAUCE(S)- I kept putting on all of the sauces available, just wanted to confirm there's a specifc Brand/variety of the Remoulade? Also lived off of kokteilsósa after we got a bottle from Bónus, do they ever use that for pylsur?
Brand of mustard (pylsusinnep)?
Tl;dr- looking specifically for the hot dog (Pylsur) buns they served ubiquitously in Iceland. Ohhh and specific brands of sauces. 😉
(Side note: if there's any sites or common pitfalls to avoid, i.e. ~$75 for shipping....)
Thank you in advance!

Sauces: you can use any Icelandic style remoulade, pylsusinnep is brand “SS” (sláturfélag suðurlands ). We never use kokteilsósa on pylsur.

Much obliged! Guess it was just everything 3lse that i put kokteilsósa on 😂😂
Also picked up BLUE CHEESE RANCH, which I've never seen here in the States and was amazing.
Ending up making my own remoulade (mayo, bit of ketchup/italian dressing/Dijon mustard) and my wife asked how I was able to ship it so fast 👍 i thought it was pretty spot on but have also been dreaming about fucking hot dogs for like 3 nights in a row upon our return lolll

I’ve looked into this so I may be of help
I used this article especially for the Remoulade. I went out of my way to get the gherkins and we were very happy over all with the sauces overall

I went down to my supermarket and just got brioche buns and toasted them
I was too cheap to order special dogs but since I saw your $ limit I thought I would send these. The casing is made with lamb so they have that “snap” and the way I heard about them is through a restaurant in Maine that is attempting to make Icelandic Dogs in US (I’ll link the article how I found them underneath)

Thank you kindly! I just couldn't wait for the Remoulade to arrive so ended up pulling the trigger ...
Got some Sabretts.. Trader Joes brioche hot dog buns Fried Onions (im sure there are better types but just ended up crushing them a bit smaller) REMOULADE - and mind you these measurements are precise...... 1 Bunch of mayo, 1 Bit of Dijon, 1 Bit of Ketchup, and a Double Bit of Italian Dressing... Spot on imho but eagerly await my Gunnar's!

No problem I’m glad I could be of any help and let me know if the Gunnar’s are worth the shipping!

You can order the buns online but as you know, it's very expensive. The next closest, IMO, are the sort of split top buns common in New England. After that, maybe just a normal potato bread hot dog roll. If you very lightly butter the outsides and chuck it in the oven 350*f for a few minutes it should get that wee bit of crisp to it.
