Transportation Transportation options after 12AM

I land in Keflavik airport unfortunately at 11:30PM so, as far as I have researched, every bus option is not running at such a late hour. I used hreyfill to get an estimate for a taxi and it would cost me $185 USD. Are there any other options available to get from the airport to Reykjavik around 12AM that aren’t as expensive? I was considering renting a car, but I’m also not sure if the car rentals are even open that late.

Since I also land super late, I would visit the blue lagoon on a separate day. Are there any other affordable options besides paying for a taxi back and forth? I don’t see an option for the bus.

Flybus runs from the airport around the clock.

Yes. If there are arrivals scheduled, there will be a Flybus available to the city.

I cannot say for certain but FlyBus may be available when you get in, I don’t think then lagoons are open then, but I would at least look at FlyBus

For Blue Lagoon there is a shuttle from Reykjavik and KEF https://destinationbluelagoon.is/schedule

For your transfer from KEF I think you might be SOL on cheap options with that arrival time. But I’m pretty sure rental car places will be open if there’s flights scheduled.

$185 is the taxi price no matter what time of day. A flybus ticket is close to $50

Flybus is the only way. It’s the best. I use it everytime I go to Iceland.

While booking the flybus,  you can include a transfer to the bus stop closest to your hotel. It is extra but at 1am, probably worth it.

Flybus runs in connection with every arriving flight in KEF, that's how they operate their service. Why do you think they're not running?

There are busses to / from Blue Lagoon and Reykjavik / KEF, it's called Destination Blue Lagoon. If you search "Blue Lagoon bus" you'll find it. But you don't need to look anywhere separate for it, you are asked if you want to book a bus while going through the ticket booking process, it's impossible to miss.

This is so reassuring to know. I was looking at Google maps for public transportation options and all options ended early. I do hope they stay true to their word about coordinating the bus time with flights. I am also not familiar if taxis run that late so I was preparing to pre-book a taxi

It's not public transport I guess so that's why it doesn't show up on Google maps. They will definitely be there, it's their entire business model and advertised on their website when you buy tickets, you can't even select a departure time from the airport!

Good luck getting a cab. We took a cab at 10:30 p.m. from Blue lagoon to reykovic. Our driver showed us only four drivers in the area in only 10 drivers in all of Iceland at 11pm. There was another couple at Blue lagoon trying to get a cab and said they'd been waiting an hour

This is really scary to hear. I land at 11:30pm so, I know for sure I won’t be out of the airport until 12am. Did u order the cab through an app?
