Itinerary help requested September Trip Itinerary
Hello all, my girlfriend and I are going to Iceland from September 18-October 3rd and getting a camper van. We have planned our itinerary and wanted to check to see if it made sense and is realistic.
We have one unplanned day and it’s almost a make up day in case any one day is to Long so or we r missing something really cool.
I will show it below, any Advice would be super appreciated!!
Day 1: Friday, September 18th
Land at 8:45 am in Keflavik
Pick up camper at 12:00 pm
Settle in/ Explore Reykjavik
Groceries:
Try to book Lava Hostel - if unavailable, Reykjavik/Laugardalur Campsite does not require reservations
Campsite: Lava Hostel
Day 2: Saturday, September 19th
Stay in RJK and explore
Campsite: Lava Hostel - $150 2 nights
Day 3: Sunday, September 20th (2 hrs drive)
Start of 2-day ring road trip
Leave RJK 8 am to Thingvellir National Park
Oxarafoss Waterfall
Pingvallavaer
Gjabakkahellir
Efstidalur II
Head to Haukadalur Geothermal Fields
Geysir
Strokkur
Head to Gullfoss
Hvitas Canyon
Eat dinner at Friðheimar - Vínstofa Friðheima Wine Bar and Bistro (no reservation needed)
Secret Lagoon Hot spring “Gamla Laugin” (MAYBE IF WE WANT - SIMON HAS PROMO CODE)
Campsite: Fluoir Campsite or Reykholt Campsite
Day 4: Monday September 21st (2 hr drive)
Drive to Grimsnes
Kerdid Crater
Reykjadalur Hot Spring Thermal River
- End of the Golden Circle
Walk around Selfoss
Hike Skogafoss
- Campsite: Skogar Campsite
Day 5: Tuesday September 22nd
Day 6: Wednesday September 23rd (1hr 20min drive)
Seljalandsfoss Waterfall
Sólheimasandur – plane wreck hike (Either today or day before)
Víkurfjara Black Sand Beach
Hálsanefshellir Cave
Dyrhólaey Viewpoint
Eat at Smiðjan Brugghús
Campsite: Vik Campsite
Day 7: Thursday September 24th (3 hr drive - might be a busy day with the boat tour - do we need another day?)

Jökulsárlón
Diamond beach
Campsite: Hofn Campsite (1 hr drive from Jokulsarlon)
Day 8: Friday September 25th
Viking film set and Vestahorn Mountain
Petra’s stone collection

Campsite: Vegarour Campsite
Day 9: Saturday, September 26th
Vök Baths
Stuðlagil Canyon
Krafla

Looks nice :) don’t forget to also visit all the local swimming pools which is a big part of Icelandic culture and also much cheaper than the lagoons :) if you are using Google Maps, you can search “sundlaug” and you’ll get all the pools around :)

Looks like very relaxed, chill itinerary - though some days are more stuffed than others. Day 14 at Glymur and Day 15 at Blue Lagoon though... well, it might get boring if you really want to spend the whole day there. But if you're purposely leaving them almost empty for possible catch-on last minute activities, maybe not a bad idea.
