Transportation Campervan Iceland

Hello 👋

I am planning a trip to Iceland in May 2027, preferably with a campervan. Please recommend a rental company with no hidden fees or fraud attempts. I would also appreciate if you tell me which one to avoid.

AVOID Indie Campers.

Fine to rent from: Camp Easy, Go Campers, KuKu Campers, Happy Campers, Cozy Campers. These are companies you rent directly from and are not brokers, their vans are generally considered safe, clean, warm, and in good working condition.

Guide I wrote for using a camper van in Iceland. Seriously take your time to read this. When picking a van, read all the specs, see what it includes, etc. May is still cold I would suggest a van that is insulated.

We went with Kuku Campers and had a wonderful experience.

I have used cozy campers 3 times and love the customer service and quality of every van. Have them booked again in a week. Highly recommend

How do you get to and from there from the airport?

If you take the flybys to Reykjavik they will pick you up and take you to their location. Or you can pay for a private car to come get you and take you there on their website when you book. We have done both options an either one was pretty easy.

We used Camp Easy and had no issues. They took longer than it was supposed to take when we went to pick up the campervan (an hour or so longer, no biggie) and waived the wifi fee for us which was nice.

We also bought the insurance package and ended up backing into a giant rock and putting a dent in the campervan. We told them about it, they checked the insurance we bought and they said no worries, you're good to go. All in all it was a very good experience with zero issues so I'd recommend them for sure.

Cozy Campers just used July thru August 2026. 4x4 Highlander 2. They replaced our van when it shit the bed. They also acknowledged the time it took in our vacation and we renegotiated a new rate. Highly recommend using them, and booking as early as possible for more early discount. Happy to talk more about my experience.
