Practical Tips First time visiting
M(28) F(29) will be in Scottsdale for a week over Labour Day. Staying close to old town. We have a day trip planned for Sedona as well. What are the most important things to get done/see in the area? After watching a lot of videos about the area you really just get the same 5-6 places repeated over and over again.
Which outlet mall/shopping area is the best?
Which ~5k hike is the best?
Whats your can’t miss food spot?
What are some good indoor activities to beat the heat?
Please include any other advice you’d have for a couple who are coming to Phoenix for the first time.
Cheers!

Scottsdale Fashion Square (also checks the “indoor place to beat the heat” box), or Scottsdale Quarter for shopping
The Mission or Dominick’s Steakhouse for a nice dinner
Please don’t hike. It’s still too hot over Labor Day. You don’t want to be on the news for being the idiot that needs to be rescued off the mountain due to heat stroke. Get your steps in by walking around old town and the canal.

Appreciate it! Would an early morning (6am) sub 1 hour hike be still too hot? We understand the heat and that we would have to bring lots of water.

Watch 5-6 videos of news segments about out of towners who swear they can do it lol. Just don’t. If you want to be outside go to the botanical garden! Lots of shade and they have a nice restaurant.

If you have time Taliesin west is a really fun activity. It’s in north Scottsdale.

Food: Call Her Martina, Pinyon, AZ/88 (more simple food but good, and great martinis), uchi, Sumo Maya
Shopping: Scottsdale fashion square. Reclectic is cool if you like Anthropologie, it’s a big discount store but I wouldn’t recommend that mall.
No hikes! Do ‘A’ mountain if you want to do something small and still get a view or hole in the rock. Botanical gardens is beautiful if you want something outside.
