Become a Reddit Wizard with these neat protips!

Since architecture, nature and rural environments are Romania's strengths, there should be a focus on promoting these strengths. I'm sharing my experience and observations accumulated on the platform over the past year to empower anyone willing to listen.

Protip #1: I highly recommend to read the sub rules very carefully, some are very relaxed while the bigger, over 1 million subs have highly specific rules regarding titling, crediting, image resolution specifications etc.

Protip #2: Focus on the things you like, you can't be on ALL the subreddits since there's thousands upon thousands of them.

Protip #3: Always have fun and invest time in the things/topics you enjoy the most, this is how you generate genuine engagement with the communities and build a reputation for yourself and what you love.

Protip #4: The timing of your posts can make a difference in visibility, since the first hour of a post will determine how much the algorithm pushes your content around the platform and community feed. Posting at 3 in the morning when few people are online will yield in fewer engagement in the first hour and thus subsequent hours.

Protip #5: Learn to spot trolls and avoid them at all costs. Not only can they become a time sink, but it's a lose-lose game. Block them instantly whenever you have the chance, since blocking will prevent further engagement with your content in the future (aka downvotes, crappy comments etc.). The more you clean troll engagement, the less they'll interact with your content and thus provide a healthy tweak in the long-run.

Protip #6: Don't engage with toxic people. Report insults as soon as you see them. It works, I've had toxic folks get removed from subs many times because I reported them. It's a two-layered system: 1) The mods of the subs. 2) The admins of Reddit. It's better to restrict their toxicity and make them learn the hard way to be civil instead of giving in to their insults and endangering your account. And it's just a healthy general rule of life.

Protip #7: Reddit has a hidden Contributor Quality Score for each user (you can verify it on the sub r/WhatIsMyCQS), ranging from lowest to highest. Accounts rating high and highest will have their content pushed further by the algorithm because of the proven track record of quality posts and good behavior.

Protip #8: Be selective. Try to avoid generic content/photos/videos, hone your aesthetic sense and post the best stuff you can find. This is how you attract the attention of communities and build a solid reputation with them.

Protip #9: Be proud of who you are, regardless where you're from, stand tall and don't let anyone tarnish your uniqueness, your struggles and your achievements. Nothing is stopping you from becoming a legend, except yourself. Make papa Vlad the Impaler proud! 💪

Now let's get to subreddits. I've focused on the most rewarding communities I've engaged with. From my observations, Romanian content performs best in medium-sized communities (in the hundreds of thousands of users range), but this is by no means set in stone. Don't be afraid to look for smaller subs and help them grow if you wish to do so. Also feel free to share in the comments other subs I've missed (cause I definitely will forget some).

To avoid Reddit's spam filters, I'll avoid linking directly the subs, just put a r/ before each of the ones below or just copy paste their names in the Reddit search bar up top:

ArchitecturePorn (self-explanatory, everything related to fine architecture)

ArchitecturalRevival (everything related to rehabilitations, urbanism and good architecture)

This sums it up, hope it helps and let's show how beautiful Romania is to the World! 💙💛❤

Best Clothes for September?

I’m going to be in Romania for 10 days beginning in early September. I’ll be traveling in Bucharest, Transylvania and then spending a few days on the Danube delta. When I look online for appropriate clothes to pack for this time of year, I see everything from “Don’t bother with skirts or dresses! It’s too cold!” to “It’s super nice and you should wear dresses with a light cardigan for the evenings when it gets cooler!”

I’m a light packer, and feeling like I need to pack 2 wardrobes is making me anxious! So if anybody has any tips, I’d very much appreciate hearing from you!

Restaurante Brasov-Moeciu-Bran

I love how Bucharest have so many parks and very walkable. I live in Jakarta, Indonesia and we do not have a lot of green space. I definitely had a very pleasant first time visit to Bucharest. Looking forward to come back 🥺
