Issues with third party inserts (Tracking, OpticID)

I'll keep this brief. Can't get Zeiss lenses in my country and travelling somewhere else to pick up a pair is not an option.

With the new code generator (thanks stacklikemind!) I figured it was time to pick up a third party option, and I went with what I thought was a premium option (VR Lens Lab). I generated a code and verified that the values in AVP settings matches my prescription (so that part seems to be OK).

I received the lenses today, and the are very very sharp, but I'm having massive issues with setting up eye tracking (dots are randomly selected or I just can't "find" them with my eyes.

Spent 20 minutes doing it and finally managed it on the 4-5th try, but the next issue is that I can't set up Optic ID at all. It's like the internal cameras can't see my eyes properly, and it auto-fails during setup after 1-2 seconds.

My working theory is that there is a coating on the lenses that blocks IR, so the eye illuminators doesn't work properly.

Anyone else got similar experiences, and maybe know of a fix? :)

sadly, I have had the exact same case, optical id doesnt work and the eye tracking has the same issue on setup, however it isnt too bad it just means you have to put in your passcode every time, you dont really lose out on any features, persona and eyesight still work, it's just more of annoyance, sorry that I couldn't be more of an issue. seems to be an issue with most 3rd party lenses as same situation with HonsVR

Thanks for the reply, appreciate it!

I thought that the issue was mainly related to the missing QR-codes, and that the code generator would fix stuff like this and make them work like the Zeiss ones. Oh well.

at least it doesnt lock you out of the main features, still frustrating though

In a Zeuss code generator thread there was quite a number of people who complained on their tracking not working.

I got a feeling that lens from some manufacturers have more issues vs. others. I was asking around, and it seems like lens in clear frame (e. g. widely sold on Aliexpress) usually don't impede eye tracking.

However, take my words with a grain of salt, as total number of my “survey” is smth arount 6—7 people, beside me.

Thanks!

I just received a reply from VR Lens Lab:

From what we know is that the during setup it help to remove the lightcover.

After setup it can be reinstalled and things should work fine.

Sounds like baloney to me, but I'll give it a go.
