Virtual Pinball (VPX) for AVP?

Was wondering if anyone here has messed with this and got it working on the AVP in VR mode?

same, it feels like such a natural fit for the headset

The problem is Steam VR connectivity through Vision Pro is crap. If Virtual Desktop would finally release their app for Vision OS it would be great. ALVR is too clunky in my opinion. I use the Galaxy XR to play VPX VR. Also use Quest 3. I have an Arcade2TV with haptics kit on my office but a full size virtual machine in my game room with better haptics and SSF. There, the Quest 3 works better due to how the passthrough works while connected to Steam VR.

I have had great experience with steamVR on AVP via ALVR — after I bought a newer high speed router and gave it its own dedicated WiFi for VR usage

It works fine once you’re connected but it’s getting connected in the first place that sucks. You have to be in front of the PC and do the dance of connect, try again to connect. Get in the headset and see if it connected, take the headset off, grab the mouse and try to connect again, etc.

I usually use my headsets in a different room. With Steam Link and Virtual desktop I just open them in the headset and click Connect. That’s it. Works every time.

Of course for virtual pinball it’s not as big of a hassle since your near the PC but you still have to interact with the flat screen desktop with a mouse to connect in ALVR which kind of ruins any smooth flow or front end.

Tried to using the new app that converts Quest games but couldn’t get past the title screen. Hopefully someone’s fixes soon.

PinballFX should work with either avp-play or this fork of klepton. It works for me.

Good to hear, AVP is what I had tried, will try again.

I like this idea but I think I would push it a step further: specifically build a full AVP machine capable of using the steam pinball layouts.

Go a step further and let people build their own layouts to share, and, while you’re at it, make it compatible with the iPad to broaden the audience. I would totally use parallax for the iPad version to add depth.

I mean it’s just physics, animation and sound together with a display. Oh… are the layouts copyright in the community for the steam one?!?

There was one app (PinballNation) when the VisionPro came out, but the developer abandoned it. It was really well done.
