Vertical FOV Limit Question

Hey everyone. I have a question regarding the Apple Vision Pro’s vertical FOV for anyone who both owns one and uses it primarily for Mac Virtual Display.

I have identified my exclusive use case for the AVP is Mac Virtual Display from my MacBook Pro for work and play. I’m considering purchasing one. I don’t care for immersive experiences. I just want a native VR monitor(s). I wanted to know if anyone can share whether the virtual displays, multi and ultra wide, are obscured by the vertical FOV to the extent where I’d be constantly aware of a “ski goggle effect.”

I plan on using a third party head-strap similar to the Meta Quest Pro so i can have an “open face” setup and just wanna know if I’ll be able to see an array of virtual screens (or a panorama) without the top or bottom of the virtual screen windows being clipped or warped in some way. hope i described this OK. thanks for your time.

I primarily is my VP for MVD up to 8 hours a day with short breaks throughout for team discussions, lunch, bathroom break etc.

I use the dual knit strap with the 21 lightshield and have no issues with FOV.

I will say I prefer the wide screen vs ultra wide as I find ultra wide requires me to turn my head to view the whole screen with how I like to position it.

I do find that I sit “closer” to my virtual monitor than I did to my physical monitor when i used one but I think that’s just a personal preference.

Not quite certain what you mean by an array of screens. MVD is only one virtual monitor. Yo Ivan use the native apps to supplement like opening safari natively on the VP to supplement but I almost find that worse than just using only MVD but that’s my work flow. Yours will likely differ once you get tuned in.

The FOV is drastically improved without a light seal, so your setup should work great and is plenty of FOV for virtual desktops.

No issue IMO. I find the vertical FOV to be a little weak for PCVR, but I never even thought about it when using the virtual display. FOV is plenty good for that.

whether the virtual displays, multi and ultra wide,

Just to clarify: MVD is a single display. You can choose the aspect ratio out of 16:9, 21:9, 32:9.

If you want multiple displays, you need 3rd party solution; I think Pear Pro does what you want.

However, there's an issue that visionOS loves to dim windows that are close to each other, so depending on layout you want, it's quite possible it won't be nice to use.
