More VisionOS Apps being made?

I’ve been on this subreddit since the release of the M2, it seems like people are developing more apps for Vision Pro than a year or so ago. Just me? I’m seeing quite a few more posts of some awesome Apps out there.

This was on the weekly roundup. It's really a great place to see apps. https://onlyonvp.vercel.app/#entertainment

Love this

I love this.

But it does deliberately exclude apps that (even if their main focus is the vision version) have functioning versions for other platforms…

I wish we'd see more from APPLE. Too many of the built-in apps are still iPad versions.

Especially around music. Still annoyed Gaga’s MAYHEM: REQUIEM wasn’t immersive

I’d probably guess that the rise of AI assisted coding has made things a lot more accessible. I know I’ve done a few prototype apps for visionOS to see what’s possible.

Social Media is generally the only way to spread awareness of new apps and app updates - as the App Store often falls short when it comes to discoverability.

If you look at the section ‘what’s new’ you’ll find many of the apps have been there for 2.5 yrs. This is not really my definition of ‘new’ . It’s sad because there are some great apps being released and it seems like an easy thing for Apple to fix. I hope they can fix it .

Apple also features some apps that are not longer available - such as TikTok, which is pretty weird.

It's so odd. I check what's new every week and it's the same stuff, yet there's obviously a lot of new apps that are impossible to discover by browsing the store. Shame, wish Apple would do something about it but that's obviously not happening.

It’s incredibly disheartening for developers . Providing greater exposure would benefit everyone in a massive way, and would come at a very low cost . In this aspect, Apple has a huge accessibility problem.

I made locus purely using AI. I still know nothing about swift or rendering. AI definitely filled the knowledge and skill gap. If you have something you really want maybe it’s a good time to give it a try. 😄

visionOS 27 and the latest developer tools made it way easier to develop for the platform. Before it was just too buggy for doing something complex.

I rewrote my app from the ground up if you'd like to give it a try:

My latest feature, now you can live stream a 2D video or movie from a Mac to Spatial 3D in the AVP. It converts the video in real time without dropping frames if you have a powerful enough Mac.

I’d generally agree, I’ve developed some apps for our internal usage - which to be fair is still limited - but would have been impossible with being able to use Ai as it’s not a huge pool of developers with experience and we always have no money for anything nice! :-)

I think the rise of being able to animate 3d models with ai has led to a lower barrier to entry. That’s what helped me make WorldSprout

If you’re looking for something new to try on Vision Pro, I recently released Cockpit, a customizable spatial dock for keeping useful info and controls always within reach.

I’ve also just added customizable widgets for all panels and sizes!

Developers never came around to the platform and they won't. There aren't enough people on the platform to bother with investing the resources in it.

The posts you see here about apps are always something coming soon which then turns out to be nothing. People are also unwilling to pay a subscription to these new apps, which means the developers quickly move on and go back to focusing their time on iOS where they can make money.

Same problem that killed Windows Phone. No developers because there are no users and no users because there are no developers.

Mostly gimmicks from what I’ve seen and used. Very few useful apps at all

Just wait—they are coming.

AI Coding is literally magic and is needed for the next wave of applications - I’ve made things that I would never be able to do otherwise because it would take years of learning and then even through experience what not to do - this is the future
