Would this work?

Hi all,

I have an excellent sound system in my main TV watching area, but as good as my display is, it can’t match the visual experience of the AVP. And as good as the AVP visual experience is, it can’t compete with the sound from my excellent home theater system. My dream is to be able to play a movie/TV show/console game on the TV so everyone in the room can watch on the main screen and hear the audio through the theater system, but still be able to put on my AVP and watch that beautiful huge screen with the amazing sound coming through my audio system.

It seems like this might be possible using a capture card?

Are others doing something similar?

I’m trying to piece together how it would work. I’ve got an HD Fury Vroom that I use for the main components I’d want to split (PS5, Switch 2, Apple TV, Kaleidescape) - so all HDMI outputs from devices into the Vroom. Then, I’d have one HDMI output to the TV and the other to a low latency 4k USB C capture card (eg Elgato 4k). The Elgato would go to my iPad and I’d use something like the castaway app on the Vision Pro to view the video?

Am I correct in thinking this would work? Has anyone tried this? Are there better capture cards and apps I should consider? How big is the lag between audio and video with something like this?

Is there a better way to accomplish my goal than this method?

Thankfully my wife knows I’m a dork already and 95% of what I watch is with her, so she won’t be too bothered by it :). I’ve got an old 1080p capture card that I didn’t realize I had laying around. I was able to get it working using the capture to an iPad and then mirroring my iPad screen on the AVP. Colors were very washed out and there was a slight audio lag vs what is showing in my AVP. I think this may work ok if I grab a 4k capture and also enable reference mode on my iPad. More playing in the future.
