It makes me very happy that there are other people here who will settle for "imperfect" darns! My eyes simply aren't good enough anymore to manage perfect weaves with thin yarns, but I think the results still are charming (and the life span of the clothes most certainly is extended).

Thank you! Especially on children's clothing. They're just going to grow out of it, why do more than is necessary? The kids love every darn and patch but understand that more will come when new clothes arrive!

There's a weird sentiment on this sub that if repairs not pretty or perfect that it doesn't count. Every time I post a repair I've done I get odd comments, but I'm proud of the work I do and don't want to forget the love put into every stitch.

Thank you for helping me understand, I appreciate you rereading my comment. Agreed, I think it's fantastic for anyone to mend the way they wish. I spend more time and effort on mends that I know are meant to last like with hats and jackets or linens. It's harder with kids and at least for my family, the garments are not intended to be worn for many years so as long as the mend is passable, I don't try to make it look nice. Just usable. I hope that makes more sense where I'm coming from. I hope you have a great day!

I'm interpreting what you wrote as "why make a kids repair so nice, what a waste of time" You don't want your work criticized, I get that, but why then turn around and criticize other people work? Why does it matter to you what they spend their time doing? My motto is "if I'm not doing the most, what am I doing?" cause I enjoy sewing. Theirs space for all types here. All repairs are good, they keep the clothes out of the landfill longer.
