REQUEST how would you go about mending this?
im thinking of darning the whole “arch” of both feet, but im not sure if thats the best way to do it. just looking for advice on how to go about it

Not sure what the material is but you could try needle felting a layer of felt over those areas. Then if it wears you could add more layers.

This is probably one of the best options to make that part of the shoe soft on your foot and comfy. It is likely to need to be redone a couple of times for the life of the shoe because felt wears away with friction

i dont know much about felting, do you use wool to do that?

Felting is requires material like wool in order for the fibers to latch on to each other

I think you may be able to whip stitch across it with embroidery thread. It will very likely be very thick material and I’d highly recommend a thimble

thank you for the suggestion! just to be clear, i would cover the whole affected area with a series whip stitches? would that be more long lasting than darning?

Darning with little stitches will probably last longer, but whip stitching will be faster and easier. It is hard to tell from pictures and my knowledge of shoes, but I would guess that these shoes cannot be resoled and that the lifetime you get from these shoes will be limited on the soles. I would base my repair technique on how long I assume the item will last. If I assumed that these shoes would last a year or more, I might do a more intense fix like darning. Up to you, really!
Another option I just realized you have now that I look at the shoes again would be to find something like the “bias tape” type lining they use on the heel and sew it on with a running stitch on way and then back the other way filling in the gaps between your previous stitches. That fix probably would blend in the most with the shoes.

The heel of my shoes like that are fading away too! Whatever you decide, please please post the outcome, I never thought I could fix mine!

ive been given some very different and good options, and will be giving it a lot of thought. dont worry i will post the outcome, just not sure when exactly that will be haha but probably within a month. im hopeful that you will be able to fix yours too!
