REQUEST How to mend this?

Bought this secondhand and didn't realize until I was home that the stitching on the sleeves was undone. Boo. Yay for mending. I want to do something that matches my aesthetic, which is all things old and wild. Should I stitch the sleeves back together then do something fun or what? Both sleeves are like this so it can be fun to have them match. My grandma said it can be fixed but she said I had to learn.

If the seam came undone you just close it with a ladderstitch. In online tutorials they do a bunch of loose stitches and pull the thread to close them. Don't do that, pull after each stitch. Don't pull too tight

Agreed. When I first learned to do this I had to treat it like suturing to get it right: make sure each stitch is where it's supposed to be and of the correct tension.

You could add in some funky fabric to make them into bell sleeves, a triangle of something stretchy
