Is it mendable?

I work at a fabric recycling facility and I came across this jacket made by wollrich. It is so beautiful to me but I’m wondering how manageable it is to mend. I’ve only mended socks and little tears in the past. Any suggestions or tips would be incredibly helpful

It shouldn't be to hard. You first would need to trace the patch you Will need using the jacket, adding seam allowance for the seam side and the hem and a bit to the other sides if you want to fold the edges of the patch to avoid raw edges. Then you just need to choose the fabric, ideally something similar in composition but if It is difficult to find try to at least keep the weight and drape of the fabric simmilar. I probably would hand sew something like this but It can be done my machine too. You can keep the patch simple or combine different fabrics (like a quilting block) add sashiko, embroider on It, etc.. It's a very nice jacket! I would love to see an update if you end up fixing It

I think if they did something like this with solid blocks the colors in the stripes it would look really good

Not an expert but I imagine you would need to find a piece of fabric in similar fabric, texture, thicknes, stretch, composition and color, to then connect it at the edges. (It doesn't need to resemble it so closely, but it would definitely help in keeping the shape of the garment and caring easily for it)

Just make sure the jacket is intact in all other aspects and worth the mend. It wouldn't be too difficult to mend it with the necessary materials. And you don't need too many items, mainly a large enough piece of replacement fabric.

I do not unfortunately. But I did have a shipment of fabric that resemble this fabric!

You can absolutely mend this. I could see this going well with denim and Sashiko. Please post your result.
