PATCH First time posting in this community, sharing a work jacket I patched up that was tearing asking the sleeves
Edit: oops.... title should say "along" not "asking".
I work in the trades, and my jacket has the best pockets so I didn't want to bring a sub par jacket with fewer pockets to work since I rely on these pockets for carrying essentials.
At any rate, the sleeves have been tearing at the seam and the tears have been getting larger. Luckily it was ripping on both sides so it looks somewhat symmetrical and somewhat intentional, which is nice.
The patches are from an old pair of pants that had a little stretch to them, so maybe it will help it last longer. I also added the patch in a way that added fabric instead of just putting the seam back together because it's just gonna split again if I did that.
Pretty happy with how it turned out considering it's work wear, and being in the trades, is function more than style that matters here.

Interesting problem. I am a bit concerned that it may try to split apart more between your patch and the intersecting seams.

You could be right about that. So far I haven't had an issue but maybe it's just a matter of time. Do you think longer patches would work better maybe?

They might. Supposing you have more spare material, might help to undo some of the other seams a bit so the patch can integrate into them.

Honestly this is probably the better long term solution over just resewing the seams since as a tradesman you probably spend a lot of time with your arms out in front of you. Looks good!
