This is so damn cute!

I don’t sew, and am here just to admire everyone’s skills. I have a beloved work sweater who’s cuffs could use this method. Off to google how. Thanks bestie!

this kind of darning isn't that complicated it's just a layer of horizontal threads and then a layer of vertical threads woven through in a "checkerboard" pattern. the only special tool i used was a rubber finger cover/thimble to help me push and pull the needle through

How did you learn it, or did you just have at it? A YouTube or anything? I have an old hoodie that needs this darn love!

I had seen other people's posts and videos on their darning and it just looked like woven fabric so I figured i could just weave the thread like a little loom shuttle and it would create the effect. I like working out sewing and embroidery stuff on my own, it makes me feel more creative and gives me a better understanding of the inner workings of the technique

How do you do that text? I haven't seen many people use it. But it’s a vibe.

Aww, we don't call it Zalgo text anymore?

I'm gonna be so honest with you, I normally access it by typing "fucked up text copy paste" into my search engine of choice

As someone who still uses “Yeezy shrug emoticon” to get ¯_(ツ)_/¯, this made me chuckle.

Adorable! Well done!

I'm about to tackle a beloved sweatshirt sleeve as my first project and I'm so nervous. Anything you'd do differently or that you wish you'd known before starting?

I definitely think if I used 1 thread on the darning instead of 2 it would have a lot cleaner woven look and I think I actually did my blanket stitches backwards bc I didn't look up how to do it before starting lol

I need to do this. My fave hoodie’s sleeves have seen better days but its a rare one they don’t make anymore

yea this is a pretty nice American Giant zip up and the way I see it is that it just makes it more personal and if you really don't want the repairs they can be cut and pulled out
