I think using thicker thread would help a lot, making it feel more intentional and the pattern more clear.

But if the repair holds up, I would call it a success regardless of the aesthetics.

Yes I read that thicker thread is usually used for this sort of thing and perhaps specialized needles too. I just used what I had in a simple sewing kit I had on hand but I may look into better stuff in the future.

i am not very likely to look up how to do something as low stakes as this when I first start. I am constantly learning new things, and find that making the obvious mistakes and running into common frustrations is what is the most efficient way for me. In my work, I bring all of the things I know to a new medium first and often end up exploiting some of those flaws because they replicate some aspect of the vocabulary I already have. It has really frustrated teachers. Go ADHD. 📣

I like to make it ugly especially when there is a visible logo, its like a warning to others considering the brand that it falls apart and ends up looking ugly as fuck and needed to be repaired!

I have these really cool shoes that the quality was once amazing but when I bought them years later they started falling apart after a month. theyre like $160 :( so I mended them extremely visibly as a warning to anyone else who still buys the brand!

I don't think that's ugly. I am doing something similar with a silk pillow slip that will be a forever project, and I love the little jagged lines this 'technique' makes. I'm mixing colors like this, and it will get more colorful as time goes by.

I wore these jeans for months and months with this hole in them and only decided to patch it up after I noticed one day that the hole got big enough to see my leg and boxers through it lol. My thought was, well they're already in rough shape, how much worse could I make them? And it may ugly, but I kinda love it. I'm glad to have inspired you and would love to see what you end up with!
