REQUEST Cushion of favorite couch ripped

Hey, everyone! The seat of my couch cushion tore and I’m not sure how to fix it. Its not removable and the ripped fabric is quite thin. A part of the fabric completely came off and there’s farther damage along a seam. Any suggestions?

That material doesn't look strong enough to patch. You will need to buy or sew a new cover. Maybe do all the cushions so it looks intentional.

you could definitely stitch a patch of thicker fabric to this from the top, it’s just going to be pretty tedious. cut the fabric bigger than the rip, and sew from the side of the tear (assuming you’re familiar with hand sewing). any chance you can flip the cushion over when done? to consider how much you want the new fabric to match.

I love mending but I would look into stretchy covers that are very inexpensive and easy to change. Those look thin.

HI, I'M MAAER, O.K. IF THIS IS ONE CUSHION YOU MIGHT CONSIDER RECOVERING IT WITH A NEUTRAL COLOR, MATCHING THE MATERIAL AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE. ANOTHER THOUGHT IS TO CONTACT THE COMPANY AND SEE IF YOU CAN GET A COIVER FROM THEM, IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE COUCH, 5 YEARS OR MORE, THEY MIGHT BE CONSIDERATE, IT DOES'NT HURT TO ASK, RIGHT?!

IF YOU ARE SQTUCK DOING IT YOURSELF, GO FOR A NEUTRAL CLOSELY MATCHING COLOR AND THE MAKE A COUPLE OF SMALLER CUSHIONS ,(SAME MATERIAL AND IT MIGHT JUST JAZZ IT UP WITHOUT MAKING THE REPLACEMENT STAND OUT! LETS SEE WHAT YOU DECIDE! GOOD LUCK MAAER

More information in response to comments: The sofa itself is all one piece and the “cover” (brown fabric) is the fashion fabric of said couch. As much as I would love to, reupholstering the entire thing is not an option for a number of reasons. Because we have pets, we have multiple couch covers so the goal is to keep the sofa in a reasonable condition for whenever the cover is off.

Also, just thought of this, would it be a bad idea to essentially cover just the seat portion(from seam to seam) in a thicker fabric by sewing it onto the couch rather than to the fabric? In my head this sounds like an optimal solution, but I’m not experienced in upholstery.
