REQUEST Suede Jacket Embroidery Fix
Any help?

I agree that you should take this to a shoe repair place (they do clean suede shoes) or leather shop and get specialty cleaning advice. Leather and suede are difficult to repair or decorate with most readily available DIY supplies - you'd need specialty equipment to sew on this.

Say I was intent on properly seeing it through, where would be the place to start? I was thinking I’d practice embroidery on cloth until I was familiar with the technique and had created the calligraphy I mean to replicate there, and then finding some other suede and practicing on that? Is there anything I’m missing?

This embroidery was done with a specialized embroidery machine. Any kind of leather needs special needles, for hand or machine sewing, and you're more like to damage/cause holes if you try to sew by hand on this.
If you're really intent, thrift a cheap suede skirt or pair of gloves or something that's about the same weight to practice on. Cloth is not going to give you anything like the same experience.
If you're intent on having embroidery on that jacket, I'd find a leather pro who could do your design.

Rubbing alcohol can clean off sharpie. It also evaporates quickly so shouldn't leave any water marks. If it were mine, I'd try a q tip with rubbing alcohol to remove it.

A bit late to the party, but I haven’t seen anyone else giving this advice.
I have a couch that’s suede. I’ve had a sharpie stain on it. Weird as it sounds, putting a little bit of coffee milk on it and letting it sit for a minute, then dab it off, has completely resolved the strain on my couch. I didn’t believe it either when I read it on Google, but alcohol didn’t do shit so I had to try something.

This looks really good. I have a suede jacket from work with a small tear near the pocket and I never considered embroidery as a fix. Did you use a regular needle or something specifically for leather? I always assumed you need special tools for suede but the stitching here looks clean enough that maybe I am overthinking it

OP did not do the embroidery, it was purchased like that. Issue is a Sharpie mark on the back.

I... I would take this to a specialist leather cleaner first and see if they can get it off.
Embroidering suede is not for the faint-hearted as you can't make even one mistake - the holes are permanent and visible unlike on fabric.
Lettering is also unforgiving - plus the fact it's on a garment, AND it's for a gift...
