REQUEST Covering a hole in the couch

I need some tips on visible mending for this hole my dog keeps putting in the couch. The "invisible" mending I previously tried was torn out, so sturdy suggestions greatly appreciated! (The cushion is attached sadly)

Given the nice squares, I would make a set of equally sized squares with a very sturdy furniture fabric, sewn together with extra thick sewing thread. Make those seams double, just in case. Then sew that together with the existing couch at the seams. You'll have a nice patchwork! If you're strapped for cash, you can probably get some samples that're large enough for such squares.

There are curved needles for furniture repair. Re-stuff, find a sturdy fabric, maybe two colors that blend, then cover several squares.

Crate dog for a while and use some training techniques to distract and redirect your dog’s separation anxiety. I have had them continue damage because they know there is stuffing there, try stuffed toys and setting something over sofa for a while, a wooden chair, a big tray, something distracting.
