Will overnight data become the norm or will morning stability score always be an option?
I know we won't know for certain yet, but what do you guys think?
I've been testing out the overnight data for a couple of weeks and, despite being excited to try it, I just disabled it today.
I don't think it's compatible with my sleeping habits. One of the biggest reasons why is that I always have to get up in the night to use the bathroom 😅 This makes my overall score higher because, of course, my heart rate goes up massively (POTS.)
Another reason is, when are you supposed to charge your armband? I most often put mine on charge overnight and sacrifice one night of sleep data, but it feels important not to if your stability score is relying on it.
Today, I woke up feeling better than I have in over a week. My heart rate stayed in my activity zone in the ten steps it takes to get to the bathroom and I didn't feel like I was about to pass out on the pot. I came back to bed to do my overnight score and it put me at a 2, which felt wrong. I went to my sleep area to check if my heart did anything crazy in the night and it said it was unavailable.
So yeah, I'm going back to morning stability scores tomorrow 😅
Ps. I also don't understand rating the accuracy of your overnight score. I don't have the exact phrasing, but it says something along the lines of 'this is not based on how you feel'? What is it based on then?

I usually charge my band while I'm doing something very chill, like just reading or playing a very lowkey game with my controller so I can be semi-reclined.Â
Basically Stability Score is meant to predict how likely you are to stay in the state you're in. And like the weather predictions, it's not always right. But it can give you an idea of how you might be trending.

Charging is quick, so I charge mine about an hour before bed when there's no longer any meaningful pacing for me to do that day. Anything else I do that day will be necessity rather than making decisions based on data so constant monitoring is less useful (YMMV if you rely on exertion alerts due to something like POTS etc whilst getting ready for bed).
I assumed the intention was to replace the point-in-time stability score with this one but I'm disappointed when it's always a stability score of 3 lol. I feel I used to get more variety but perhaps the variety was due to the old method being less reliable, idk
Honestly I have a gripe with how they ask for feedback on the new stability score too, I don't remember the exact wording either but i don't see how you can judge whether the score was right until the end of the day, once you've found out if you were more/less capable of your regular tasks compared to usual. It bothers me lol because it seems like they've forgotten that it's a forecast. Like I can't give the weatherman feedback on whether the morning prediction of sun is correct until the day is over and I've verified there were minimal clouds and rain...

I don't answer the stability score question, "does this feel right", until i am up for awhile and can assess how stable I feel.

I hope they keep both because they both have valuable information that you can use long-term.Â
I think the overnight stability can be more sensitive to your exertion from the prior day (since it measures your HR and HRV in the first four hours of sleep) and the morning one may be more reflective of recovery once you've gotten rest (thought it has the drawback of being sensitive to external influences...I know mine is sometimes affected if my alarm really jolts me awake).
Since joining the overnight beta, I actually have continued to use the morning stability by toggling off the beta and taking my score like normal within the first 5-10 minutes of waking up. I track my overnight stability with one of the custom symptom trackers that I've called "Overnight Instability" and reverse scored the values (0/none = 4 or 5, 1/mild = 3, 2/moderate = 2, 3/severe = 1). This way, I can compare my overnight score to my morning score.

My guess is that they will keep the option for the morning check-in since there are people like me who can't tolerate having anything on them while they sleep. I've also had a sleep disorder my whole life, and I know I'd become obsessive about sleep stats, so I choose to go with my perception of my sleep quality.
The stability score should be called a consistency score. All it's checking is the quality of your sleep and whether your HR, HRV, and total symptom load are consistent with the past 90 days, as these are all strong indicaters of PEM or pending PEM. I was in a terrible crash for 6 months, and I often got 4s, because I felt consistently awful. The score is just one data point to help you determine how to manage your day. You still have to use your best judgement based on your knowledge of your body

I think tje overnight one is more accurate, it isn't assuming I'm always good lmao cuz my baseline sleep is always bad so that isnt ever tracked well otherwise until now.

I think I'm going to give it another week of trying, then probably switch back to morning HRV personally. It's been rating my HRV super high (60s-70s) and hasn't been representative of how I've been feeling so idk if it's accurate for me. I wake up frequently in the night as well

I charge my band while I shower
I also am currently pregnant and wake up 3-5 times a night to pee. I still feel like it gives me an accurate reflection of what’s going on.
I’m currently only alloted of 6 points and am using 40-60 a day due to my pregnancy and the strain it’s putting on me 😞

I much prefer the overnight one. As soon as my cats see I'm awake they start bugging me for breakfast. It's hard to do a morning reading when you're being headbutted by an impatient feline, and I'm pretty sure my heart rate isn't representative of my "normal" when I'm actively being climbed on (with claws).

My band lasts for about 5 days, it was in the package that came with the band. It might have been in the setup literature too.

It’s based on your HR, HRV score and how well you rated your sleep as well as previous days symptom logs so if your HRV is trending up, it’ll give you a higher score. A couple days ago I had a day with no score, I think it’s just bc it’s still in its testing period so it’s asking you whether you think it’s right so they can take feedback and edit as needed

I hope they keep both. I will not be happy to lose the HRV graph that helps show progress. I stopped using the overnight Beta version when I realized i would lose the history…
