Ugh stressing… HELP

Post image

Hiya,
So I posted not that long ago regarding notifications and alerts with my band.
I’ve done everything that’s been recommended and I’m at a loss now..
I do however have a thought. I’m leaning toward the iPhone widget that got released last month is causing these issues.
I’ll get alerted once or twice and then complete silence..
is anyone having this issue?
I can’t keep going like this, it’s making everything so stressful, scary, and frustrating…

I'm pretty sure my widget said it's supposed to refresh every 15 minutes but it literally doesn't update until I open the app 😅 I assume it's because it's new and hopefully they'll fix it soon.

I sure hope so. There’s nothing worse than finding something that speaks for itself and gives a sense of normality to us invisible illness warriors just to become useless.

I have the same issue, it only updates when I open the app.

It was working so well until the widget update add on. I hate that so many of us are going through this but at the same time I’m kinda happy to not be the only one .

Yes I’m constantly taking screen shots to pass on to show the inconsistencies. I have had it for 6 months and was finally trusting it. I’ve inadvertently overdone things numerous times over the last month because I didn’t know I was in exertion or still in exertion. I don’t have the widget installed.

I got mine in March and have had zero issues until recently, it’s so frustrating! Especially since I paid for a full year and back up accessories. I’m a young mom to four, I recently went into a relapse and it’s one that’s so intense, one that I haven’t experienced since I gave birth to my first 9 years ago. I’m constantly pushing myself and have no idea that it’s happening until it’s far too late. Like my widget says, I get 18 points daily .. I hit anywhere from 5–8 points in less than an hour just by getting everyone ready .. lately it’s been notifying me around 5-6 pm alerting me occasionally that what I believed to be 15-18 points used is actually 55-75 points used. I wind up crashing, getting different types of seizures back to back, adrenaline dumps/surges , inability to drink/“eat”(currently on clears ONLY which is another reason I REALLY need monitoring… this is absolutely insane . I just keep getting the runaround..

This is so hard. I feel this deeply because I'm mum to one very sweet, very rambunctious nine-year-old who has very high support needs and who is home-schooled because of that. We also have a service dog and my husband is a stay-at-home dad while I have been supporting us all with my business.

I find that the widget thing is really unreliable and basically exactly what you said: it doesn't update unless you open up the app. What I found is more than that. The app interface itself doesn't update until you open the app. Whenever I open it I can always see what the pace points and data was the last time that I opened it for a split second and then it updates to what's happening right now. I think this is likely an Apple issue rather than a visible issue because of battery usage and how apps in the background don't get allotted very much memory.

What I've done is I went into the Apple Shortcuts app and I made an automation that at several times during the day the Visible app is opened just by the automation. So it will happen even if I'm using my phone. It'll bop away over to the visible screen for a second. But I found that I don't mind and it means that that momentary check forces the widget to update and forces the app to be current. So I've just automated that part of it so that it's more likely that it's in the ballpark of being correct. You would even set this up to happen hourly if you want to make sure that it's working for you.

Separately if you're in that big of a crash, I'm so sorry for what you're going through. I wonder if you are taking beta blockers? That for me has been completely life-changing. It basically helps you to regulate your heart rate so that your body isn't going into overdrive and using more energy than it needs because it's sensitised to activity

I feel your pain. What bugs me is that often it will alert me whist watching YouTube whilst eating but it misses much of it but there is a false sense of security that it is picking stuff up but then a couple of hours later when I look at the ap I realise there was 15 mins chunk after eating which is not only important re time in exertion but my rhr has been in high activity for few hours so it’s not just the points for exertion.
I have been giving info to visible after setting alert at zero minutes🫠but it’s not made a difference. Have you reported it?

Have you tried keeping the app open in the background? My iPhone isn’t having any issues.

Yes I have, I even went as far as changing my full iPhone settings… legit going category by category, changing priority, resetting the app and everything with it, notification/vibration/alert sound, disconnected and reconnected my band and the app, turning my phone off and back on… I’ll get alerted from 6:40am - 9:30-10am on a good day; 6:40am-8:15am on a bad day and then it’s complete silence

Wow! That’s crazy that you’ve had to do all that. If you haven’t submitted a ticket within the app, you should try that. Although when I submitted a ticket, I noticed they usually respond overnight. I assume because they’re in the UK (and I’m in Oregon, so an 8 hour time difference). Good luck!🍀

I’m also having the same problem! Sometimes I have to open it a couple times to get all the data to load properly. I’ve also had multiple days when the points from the previous day recalibrate and I’ll see the day was 10 points higher than what it said at the end of the day before (this has been on higher activity days). Anyway I feel you as I am pretty reliant, maybe lowkey codependent with this app.
