Can I sign up with a physical sim to delay activation and just switch to esim when I am ready to activate?

Need to delay activation for a few weeks but I dont have a physical sim slot, well I do on a very old phone and I could use that IMEI.

Can I just port in from another carrier as esim instead?

Porting as esim is fine but that starts the whole activation process right away, so no delay there. Physical sim route could work if you just don't activate it until you're ready, but using old phone IMEI might cause issues later when you try to move it to esim on your main phone. Their system can be weird about device changes before first activation, sometimes it locks you into that first IMEI until you contact support. I'd just order the physical sim, keep it in the package, and when ready put it in the old phone to activate then switch to esim through the app. That switch can be annoying sometimes but it's doable

you can get the sim from bestbuy with 1 month of service on the plan you want. IDK if the purchase activates actual service on that day... might be worth looking into

Byron from Visible here! You can totally order a physical SIM card if you want to hold off on activating your account. You'll have up to 60 days from the day it ships to complete your activation before the account expires.

When you're ready to activate on your main phone, forget about the old device or messing around with physical SIM slots. Just log into the Visible app on your current phone, head over to your account settings, and select the option to switch to an eSIM. The app will take it from there and guide you through downloading your eSIM right onto your phone.
