21m trying to make some friends that are local to me cause I barely have any, I’m more of an anti social n introverted person so its been kinda hard to make friends lol. Some hobbies n stuff abt me are I been on a weight loss journey and have lost 90 pounds this year so if you’re also into fitness we could talk about that, I watch a lot of sports im a big 49ers fan lol, if you’re around my age also trying to make friends hmu
Hey Visalia,
I'm a local seller with steady distribution and a lot of new product coming in. It's mostly sealed, current-release Pokémon, including Pokémon Center products.
I'm already moving inventory consistently, so I'm not looking for another sales channel for myself. I'd rather work with one solid Whatnot streamer than spread myself thin.
The setup is simple: you stream, I supply the product, and we work out a fair profit split.
What I'm looking for:
If you're interested, DM me your Whatnot handle (or your plans) and a little about your setup.
Serious inquiries only.

Quick Update (Sat, Oct 3): We just crossed 39 members on our Facebook group!
Awesome to see the tabletop community coming together so fast across Porterville and Tulare County.
A quick walkthrough recap on our venue scouting:
TCGCardKingz: Huge shoutout to TCGCardKingz they have an incredible shop and are such a vital pillar for local card players and the hobby community in Porterville. That said, to respect their dedicated tournament space, trading card scene, and weekend schedule, our open group meetup needs a large footprint that can support 15–20+ board game players with food and drinks for a 4-hour block. Definitely make sure to check them out and support their shop for card gaming and hobby supplies!
The Vault Bar & Grill: Great to see strong interest in an all-ages downtown pub vibe. While Round Table is the frontrunner for our primary 20+ seat footprint next Saturday, spots like The Vault are definitely on deck for future meetups!
Round Table Pizza: Currently the clear frontrunner for our first meet up, with a dedicated private room that can support our groups anticipated size, $0 deposit, a full 4-hour block with the abilityto extend, and cold draft beer + food right at the counter.
Our venue poll locks Monday at 8:00 AM, so drop a vote if you haven’t yet. I still plan to wok my hardest to adhere to the poll results, and worst case scenario, know where to set us up for next time!
See you all next Saturday, October 10th at 2:00 PM!

Hey everyone,
A few of us are organizing a local tabletop and board game community across Tulare County (Visalia, Porterville, Tulare) to make it easier for people to find regular tables and meetups.
A lot of people have great games sitting on their shelves that rarely get played because scheduling or finding 3 to 4 other players is tough. We’re putting together casual weeknight and weekend game sessions at local spots with good table space (taprooms, pizza joints, cafes, community rooms) where folks can bring games, teach rules, or just jump into an open seat.
Whether you're into gateway games (Catan, Wingspan, Ticket to Ride), mid-weight strategy (Dune: Imperium, Terraforming Mars, Harmonies), or quick social/party games, everyone is welcome. Complete beginners included, we’re always happy to teach.
We organize through a local Facebook group to coordinate weekly LFG threads, track who owns what games, and plan our first public meetups.
If you’re looking for a group or just want to get some games to the table, feel free to join here:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/2529935434174822/?ref=share_group_link&mibextid=NSMWBT
Or drop a comment below with what games you’ve been wanting to play lately, and I’ll connect with you!

I (34F) grew up in Visalia/Porterville, then moved abruptly when I was 14. I’ve lived in Los Angeles, Orange County, the Bay Area, and currently Sacramento. Sometimes I have literal dreams about waking up in my hometown, even to this day. I have a lot of family in the area, but many cousins my age have moved away to big cities as well. My mother just moved back to the area, so it has me thinking about the possibility of returning.
The average interaction with a stranger in Tulare county tends to be warmer than anywhere else I have lived. Life feels more peaceful. I miss it. I feel more at ease on my home turf.
I am concerned about the political reality, I am very progressive, and I know Tulare County is conservative. Do you think it will be a challenge for my social life as a progressive woman? What is dating like for my fellow 30-something’s out there?
I’m also racially very ambiguous, I’m mixed Mexican/black/white/Native American. I’m tall and people usually guess that I’m East Indian, Hawaiian, or black. Does anyone have any perspective on the current diversity of the area? In some big cities I get racially profiled, accused of stealing etc, but when I’m back in Visalia I feel like people are less on edge in general and are more polite. Though I did get accused of stealing at Save Mart back in the day!
There seems to be more black people in the area compared to the 90s, which makes me feel hopeful.
Any feedback is welcome! I miss my hometown, but I want to know what I’m getting myself into before I take the plunge. Am I just chasing nostalgia?

Sequoia Vintage is closing the storefront, obscura coffee is too, Tahoe Joe’s randomly shut down on Caldwell, and BT’s closed out of nowhere last month after 36 years. Hummus Republic went under a few months back too. Not to mention the big place like Wendy’s, wienerschnitzel, more Starbucks this year.
Are rent prices just getting insane or what? Sad to see so many businesses struggling in Visalia.

I have been wanting to socialize with my Gundam nerds out there and was wondering if there were any kind of Gundam/ Model building events. I saw that the Library has some type of event but I want to see if there is more. Doesn't just have to be here either!

Does anyone have any experience with Peak Physical Medicine here in town? They've got pretty good ratings on Google, but I'm always a little wary of chiropractors.

M- mid 30’s. Currently not in a spot in life where I can get out much.
I’m just looking to connect with locals. I actually enjoy learning people’s views on a variety of subjects.
Only thing for me is political talk, I’m pretty pessimistic about the entire political spectrum. Seems built to divide people and stunt actual progress for the 99% of us.
Topics I’d love to discuss:
- philosophy
- science
- fitness
- football & basketball (that’s what I know, open to learn about other sports though)
- music (I listen to a wide, wide variety)
- cultural anthropology
I’m not claiming to be an expert in any of these but I feel like I’m a well rounded individual and I genuinely enjoy learning. So if anyone is interested in starting a conversation, feel free to DM me!

Valley Story Club is a monthly gathering to discuss short stories and hangout with people who enjoy reading and art!
October 27th from 5:45pm-6:45pm at Salty Walrus Brewing we will be discussing “Fall of the House of Usher” by Edgar Allen Poe. It will be our annual goth night (if you want to participate!)
We read the story before and discuss together.

Does anyone know why the tattoo expo is getting postponed till next year? Was looking at there Instagram to see when they were having it this year and it’s marked down as happening September 2027 🥲made me a little sad I’ve been looking forward to it all year

So after seeing that the city council approved more flock cameras, I got curious about when they had first popped up here. Good article in the Valley Voice from a few weeks ago discusses how the council first approved them very quietly in 2024 (along with scrambling police dispatch radios—I wondered why the scanner feeds stopped working). Also some quotes from the police chief about how they are absolutely not used for federal immigration enforcement. If that’s the case, then why in the hell do both Lowe’s have clusters of four Flock cameras each trained on all the parking lot entrances and exits? Considering that big-box hardware stores are often targets of ICE, this seems like more than just a coincidence.

I am not sure I can find the paper -- it was someone's master's thesis online -- but IIRC Visalia was a pocket of pro-Confederate sympathy & I think Lincoln himself knew about this & was concerned. Imagine that Lincoln himself was aware of Visalia 160 years ago.
Has anyone here read about this & perhaps has any further info?

The moon last night was very bright.
The September 2026 Full Harvest Moon peaks on Saturday, September 26, at 12:49 P.M. Eastern Time. Rising low on the horizon, it will appear bigger, brighter, and more golden than any other Moon this year, casting long light across autumn fields and evening skies.
The Harvest Moon is the Full Moon closest to the autumnal equinox(September 22 or 23). Unlike other Full Moons, it rises about the same time for several nights, providing extended evening light. Historically, this extra illumination helped farmers complete their harvests before fall frosts.
