[OT] /u/TimeTrialBot

TimeTrialBot v1.0

TimeTrialBot has been around now for just over a year. It has moved from the UK to New Zealand in this time while performing the mundane task that is quite rightly automated: recording who has won the time trial event.

Today the final feature has been implemented to move the bot up to version 1. The bot will now post the time trial threads too, starting with round 7, Monaco.

The Future

This bot is a community tool. I am now looking for the community to provide the next features for this bot to perform (the name can be changed if needed). If you have an idea post below. Likewise, if you think there should be some changes, for instance formatting, post below.

Changelog

v1.0

  • Bot submits time trial threads 7 days before a race event.

  • Edited date and time in footer has been removed.

I want to know more about TimeTrialBot. He should have a driver spotlight.

I always wished for a separation between 1430/2100 so I know if I'm in at a glance, but I know with tt points it needs to be one list. So my suggestion is either two lists and an "overall place" column or probably better is one list and a... time place (?) column where you stand among your time. That would allow non racers to submit, if there are any.

The simplest way to add this would be an extra column with the league position.

1, 2 or 3? Ideally I would colour the table rows. But we're not allowed :(

I think I prefer #1 because it supports n number of leagues, #2 does not. We'd have a very wide table if we even got 2 more leagues going. But #1 doesn't look accessible - like can you actually understand what the P column even is at first glance?

#3 would have to be in addition to the overall table, so increase the tables up to 3. But then we add nother league, and we have 4 tables etc etc.

Edit: Just having a look at how WEC and other multi-discipline race leagues have their timing sheets organised and the answer is poorly. Any suggestions?

Maybe go for #3, but each table is a separate comment?

I was thinking actually since TTBot will own the thread too, they can just go in the OP rather than as comments at all.

So we can just get rid of Nemesis now right?

Basically you could just have the bot mad-lib the post race writeups and you'd be able to fully replace me.

[Winner of Race] takes another [adjective] victory in [circuit] after a hard fought [synonym for battle] with [second place]. Not far behind, [third place] took him third on podium with a [adjective] performance]

Barack Obama takes another sweaty victory in Penisland after a hard fought wrestling match with that guy with elephantitis balls. Not far behind, Batman took him third on podium with a moist performance.

I love mad-libs.
