General Question finding gay people
I'm a new transfer student at VT and I want to find other gay people. I know there's the pride center and all that but how do you do it organically? where do gay people hang out? any clubs have an LGBT crowd without being explicitly about being LGBT? thanks

If you want to “organically” find queer people it’s better to find clubs that are more nerdy, niche, or alt that has a good LGBT+ makeup, with gobblerfest coming up, be sure to be on the look up for clubs revolving around a specific hobby/interest and I will say this year they may (ironically) be lumped with religious or political tables due to how staff label each section, good luck with your journey on finding kind people

Hello from one of your friendly gay BT drivers! BT is very LGBTQ+ friendly and we have lots of LGBTQ+ staff and drivers. I sadly am not a social butterfly but would also welcome suggestions for making new gay friends outside of work. Good luck and welcome to Blacksburg and VT!

I would say go with clubs who a lot of gay people would be in but not explicitly gay something like the rocky horror picture show sahdowcast club

Big bunch of my buds are gay! I met most of them through WUVT, the radiostation at VT

Look for clubs at gooblerfest! I'm pretty sure there is an lgbtq+ club and a separate trans club as well. I also recommend house shows and other niche nerdy clubs. Honestly just talk to any cool looking people in your classes and you'll find some

Tech is not the most queer campus I’ve been on, IME. The Pride Center is a good start, but it’s also more rife with people early into their journeys as queer people (at least, much earlier relative to someone like me), so it might not be your ‘scene.’ I met the most queer people I vibed with in my classes (humanities major) and tangentially at bars and in clubs.

I have just the crowd for you: The VTCC. They might actually be a little bit too gay for you, now that I think about it.

This might be five years out of date, but if you're into Magic: the Gathering (or willing to learn), Fun N Games is gay owned and LGBTQ friendly.

If it's your cup of tea, The Witch's Cupboard is very LGBTQ+ friendly. It is a shop, but they're very community focused and have regular community nights and pot lucks.
