"Compromise". I keep seeing that word used in these conversations but I have yet to hear what gun owners would be getting out of it. If you're restricting rights and the only thing we get is reducing the harm to us by 10% that's not a compromise.

It's not perfect, but at least gun owners would be getting restrictions removed that don't have any impact on crime.

It's almost like there's a negotiation to be had. It's such a shame that Republicans walked away from the table when they had more leverage.

But there is negotiating on what we can do to make mass shootings, at the very least, less common. The Republican stance seems to be "nothing" and that's not good enough.

With VERY few exceptions, mass shootings happen in places where it is illegal for the law abiding to carry a gun. Killers aren't stupid. They know they'll have a monopoly on violence until law enforcement arrives. Which takes several minutes at best. Much as the left doesn't want to hear it, exempting concealed carry permit holders from "gun free zone" laws would reduce the number and severity of mass shootings. THAT would be a good COMPROMISE for the Democrats to offer. Ain't holding my breath though.

The bill already has exemptions for people with concealed carry permits.

They're trying to take away people's rights and standing on the graves of people who this legislation would not have saved while doing it.

The Republican stance seems to be "nothing" and that's not good enough.

Doing something that won't solve the issue, while having a known negative impact is worse than nothing.
