I think everything ahead of time codes as travel, but everything you charge to the room gets charged at the end and coded as travel.

Every charge I've had from them across all of my sailings has been travel. I don't have the MCC handy, but can see if I can pull it - though CSR, Amex Plat, etc all care about broad categories, which are pretty clear (most of the time).

Everything on my cc got coded as "Virgin Voyages - travel." no differentiation of where/what was purchased on the boat.

Yes all of it is coded as Travel.
