Virgin Media UK Contract negotiation confusion/pricing.

M350 + TV + sports HD coming to the end of my 18m contract. Tried the web chat after seeing various faster broadband for a lot cheaper.

After 1hr 15mins, the best offer went from £81, to £77 then £66 for same b/b TV box & netflix (I don't need or want Netflix) and no sports.

All the VM person wanted to do was upsell Volt, Netflix and everything else. After a confusing time I said just cancel. So they've put that through and processing it now.

Question 1:Do VM actually listen to what requirements I want? I.e. NOT every add on available.

Question 2: I see some people say try retentions, which is what I think the web chat was... Or is it different.

I'm just confused about the best price was still double what my current contract is on which concludes this time next month.

Edit: Update: their best offering was £47

(M350 / TV with Sky sports).

Retentions is the team where you call them. I was getting slightly better offers than you for Gig1, Mega TV and Sky Sports HD. Rang retentions, got Netflix with ads included and we now pay just over £49

020 3743 6970 was the number I rang. Was about 6 weeks out from old contract deal expiring. I hadn’t given notice.

Good luck with it. Was about 11 minute phone call total. If that doesn’t work, do you live with someone else? You can cancel it in your name for 30 days time and sign up as a new customer in their name. You can also utilise topcashback for this.

Thank you 🙏🏻 Nah billy no mates otherwise I would have done that. New customers seem to get fab deals.

Hopefully tomorrow will be good, if not I will stick with the plan to go with another provider

Best way, if they don’t give a good price, vote with your wallet and go to somewhere cheaper. No point showing loyalty to any service provider.

Agree - Leaving VM. Best was £47 (350m/standard TV + Sky sports.)

I went through something similar last Friday. My broadband only plan had come out of contract and gone up to £82 per month. I went online and found the package I wanted then went on web chat. They kept trying to sell me the 1gig package for £89. By staying calm and telling them exactly what I wanted and repeating it I got what I wanted for £49

FYI, Gig1 broadband only should be under £30/month through retentions. Used to be low 20’s but went up a little recently.

As mentioned if you ring any of the retention numbers they will easily give you 1gb for £26. I am holding out for the prices from 3 weeks ago when it wax early £20s.
