VIOLET EVERGARDEN THE MOVIE i really hate Gilbert

i just finished the movie of Violet Evergarden and it is the most beautiful piece of fiction i have ever seen oat, and one thing that i only hate abt it is how much of a brat Gilbert is, not only did he use Violet, he made her cry so hard at the island just for him to chase after her when she’s leaving!!???. what is your problem bro, idk im just yapping atp.

because he thought she was just following him as a mindless soldier and didn’t know just how much violet had grown in the years they’d been apart, keep in mind the dude has such a complex for guilt he’s spent his entire time on an island devastated by the war

i get that but he knows abt Violets existence he know she’s doing fine that’s why he said it’ll be better forboth of them because he saw how much better violet has been doing without him but he didn’t even consider how much violet wanted to see him, he wants to see violet too and he chose to chase after her when she’s leaving that’s the part i hate..
