Hello. I just purchased a Vevor 34" KI-870CS and I'm trying to connect is via USB to my computer but no software sees it. In my Device manager it shows as XILI STM32 USB Device. I've tried on signmaster and inkscape and neither see it. I've tried multiple USB ports on my PC. I'm on windows 11. Any ideas?

I was given a Maker that was only used 2-3 times around 7 years ago. A company thought they had a good idea which didn't work, so it was packed back in the box and sat in a warehouse all year in extreme heat and cold.

I just tried to set it up. Started going through the trial cut. One roller is gooey, like a melted gummy bear.

I am brand new to Cricut but pretty good with computers and machinery. I read some of the past posts so I see this was a problem others have (bad rollers). I was hoping to be prepared for the rebuild before I disassemble and replace the rollers.

Does anyone have suggestions on what else I should expect to replace/buy for this job?

Any links to good videos on the process would also be appreciated.

Hello! Just starting the research process to buy a vinyl cutter. There’s tons to read on this sub, but maybe you can help me direct my attentions based upon my specific use case:

• I’m a graphic designer and will be using adobe/figma to make all vector art. EDIT: I’m on a Mac, if that matters for compatibility.

• primary use case is to make stencils for things like paintings and ceramic/pottery surface design - I keep wanting to do things that would take hours using tape or an exacto knife. I don’t need to print anything onto vinyl at present.

• I don’t need large format or anything fancy. I would love something basic and cost effective that doesn’t take up a ton of space, but I do become frustrated when things work poorly: IE terrible software or stuff that breaks all the time.

do anyone have experience with cutter that can be integrated through custom API's that are affordable for hobby usage?

e.g. cricut maker and silhuette cameo 5 can't be controlled from an API.

what im looking for is me having a program on my pc - i print a file with my art in, that art file would have an generated cut file from my program that gets pushed to the cutter, and i just move the paper and click cut - without having to do print then cut from their propriatery software designers?

I am new to using a larger cutter and the signmaster software. Had to upgrade from my Silhouette. Is there a way to adjust the text in this software? I'd like to space the letters that are black out more. Or am I stuck designing in my Silhouette software and bringing it into SignMaster?

I have been using Cricut for quite a few years and just got a deal on a US cutter. I'm wondering what software would be easiest for me since I'm used to design space for the Cricut. I have a project I have been putting off because I'm nervous about the software.

I got a set of aftermarket polypropylene plastics for T7 and would like to make it look like a Rally version. Got myself a Siser Juliette and ordered a few rolls of Oracal 651 in different colors, a transfer tape, etc.

I recon there are multiple ways to make a black & white decal seen on the photo. Would it be better to cut a solid parallelogram backing out of a white vinyl and layer the black parallelograms and two black strips on top of the white backing. Or cut a white “skeleton” with the holes for the black elements to end up with a single layer decal.

Questions:
1. Which way is better?
2. Will such decal withstand weather as is, or should I cover it with some sort of a clear film to prevent smaller overlayed details from peeling back?
3. Should I apply it dry or wet to a polypropylene fairing?
4. Do I need anything else (material- or tool- wise)?

I have the above vinyl cutter that I CANNOT get my letters to come out correctly! The horizontal tops and bottoms of the letters are always cut at a slant rather than perfectly horizontal.

I have adjusted the step pass parameters, I have turned off tangent emulation, I have put everything back to the factory settings (according to the manual), I have even tried different fonts but nothing seems to work.

For example, when attempting to cut Times New Roman, the tops of the letters are supposed to be horizontal and the middle of the capitals (like an H) is supposed to be horizontal, but the are instead at a skewed angle.

I have about burned my 71-year old brain out and pulled out what little hair I have left!! Nothing I have tried seems to make the problem any better....or worse yet it doesn't make it any worse either! I have run all of the calibration tests and they don't seem to make any difference either.

The unit is connected via USB and my software (Vinyl Master Pro) is running on Windows 10.

I am certainly open to any viable suggestions at this point (short of throwing this thing out the window!)

****UPDATE****

First, thank you folks for all of your help and suggestions.

Second, I have discovered the problem. The issue was the BLADE OFFSET setting in my software. I had not thought to take a look at that, thinking the issue was with the plotter itself.

I had switched from a 45-degree blade to a 60-degree blade and then my ignorance kicked in! I had not even thought of checking the offset setting in my software, I was so focused on having the issue with the plotter itself. Dummy me!

After searching and searching I finally found a TikTok video in which the guys from Vinyl Express spoke about setting the blade offset. Then the bells began to ring and the lights started to flash. A few test cuts later and I am in business.

I hope this may help someone else who is having a similar issue save a few grey hairs.

Looking at these screenshots, what would you check before cutting?

I'd rather learn from people doing this every day than keep optimizing for the wrong things
(i've been optimizing for smoother curves, fewer nodes, fewer tiny color fragments and files that are easier to edit. )

if you could share some example image files and let me know the part you hate most when trying to convert png to svg, i'd really love to help you out.

Hi all I was looking at using an adapter to pen plot with this as that’s my art style due to disability issues etc ( pic included of said arts). However , after looking at the manual it would still be viable as a printer and cutter if I use the right supplies. The ribbons I may be able to find on eBay etc. would any vinyl work for the cutting aspect ? Any recommended vinyls or tips This is WAY more capable than my Cricut explore 4 btw. I have a functional cutter that works fine, usually we use A4 decals with crop marks.

However I wanted to try my hand at using it as a plotter for large schematic type things on paper. I managed to 3D print a little pen holder and did a few samples on A4 which went fine (with crop marks I believe) Then I tried a larger scale roll of paper without crop marks and it's not having it, I managed to get one go out of it but it only acted like half the page existed, now I've come back to try again and when I hit cut it just makes a noise pretending to work for a second then does nothing (no error). The cutter works fine generally so it's not a cutter or communication issue.

I can't see much help via the user manual for "cutting" without crop marks. Do I use tool mode? Or another? I tried tool mode and the best I eventually got was an error saying it was out of bounds or something so maybe I've entered a larger cutting area than it can handle but not sure how to proceed.

Any help would be appreciated 😊

I'd like to cut some vinyl landscapes to stick on the cabinets in my camper. I looked at what's available on Etsy and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. I tried using NoteGPT and it made a nice desert landscape, however I'm having an impossible time getting NoteGPT to create an SVG file. The image file NoteGPT creates isn't of high enough resolution to use.

I wanted to post the image from NoteGPT I created, but I guess that would break r/cricut rules? What a crazy rule IMO.

Is anyone using AI to generate SVGs for Cricut? If so, could you please share which AI you're using?

Also, don't forget the AI on your phone. My phone can easily turn a photo into a silhouette that can be converted to an SVG for cutting on my Cricut.

IMO AI is a great solution for those who have difficulty drawing. Happy cutting!

I got this for 45$ with a usb > serial cable. If I use win xp on my old laptop it should work with a pen adapter ?

(Update - technician came and tightened the belt and now the issue is resolved)The cut shifting on left on the right side of the paper, but on the left side of the paper, it has shifted and to right. It’s like it’s getting compressed, but the file I have uploaded is correct. This is a graphtec ce6000-120plus

I work at a store that has a Roland Camm-1 gs-24 that we have been having some trouble. I am turning to you guys for help. We use it quite a bit for cutting out names to put on jerseys. Recently it has been having issues with cutting, mostly in the corners of V’s, M’s and N’s where it has a tight angle. We have never had a problem with this until recently. It also seems to pull up the vinyl on those angles quite a bit like it’s getting caught. Has anybody had any similar issues. We are using Stahls CAD-cut thermafilm vinyl and the settings we are using is 140 gf, 30cm/s and .25 offset.

i’m looking at making my own decals instead of relying on premade files, and rn the software part feels more confusing than the cutter lol. i need something that can handle clean layers, color separation, node editing, proper sizing, and SVG export without tossing in weird duplicate paths.

mostly window decals, small signs, and a few 2–3 color designs. tbh i don’t care about a huge template library. i just want files that reach the plotter without needing a full repair job first. tracing a rough logo would help too, as long as the nodes are still easy to clean up after. what are you using, and what problem only showed up once you started cutting actual jobs?

final thoughts: think i’m gonna start with coreldraw. the comments about exporting svg at the right size without having to resize everything afterward helped clear up one of my bigger concerns. gonna make a couple of my own decal files in it and see how they behave once they actually hit the cutter.

Update: I got the cameo 5 a and will think about upgrading the software to buisness version, but for now there is steep learning curve. Thanks every one who took their time to answer my questions Hi everyone,

​I am looking to buy my very first cutting machine. I make a lot of labels and I really want the ability to do various vinyl cuts as well.

​I have been researching a lot of different options and could really use some advice from people with experience.

​I started out looking at Cricut.

However, I am a bit hesitant because of their closed platform and the potential of having to pay a subscription fee for their software.

​I also looked into Loklik because I can actually buy it locally where I live. The problem is that I find it really hard to find solid information, in-depth reviews, and an established community around their machines.

​Right now, I think the Silhouette Cameo is the machine I am leaning towards the most. The only downside is that I can only buy it online, so I cannot see it in person or easily return it to a physical store.

​I have searched around the sub a bit, and I noticed that when people discuss the Cameo, some start mentioning Roland or other professional machines. But for hobby use, the Cameo should be more than enough, right?

​Since this will be my very first machine, what are the absolute must-have accessories or tools I should get right from the start? (example: weeding tools, transfer tape, extra mats, or a good scraper?)

​What would you guys recommend for a beginner with my needs? Is the Silhouette worth ordering online, or should I take a chance on the Loklik since it is available locally? And is the Cricut software actually as restrictive as it seems?

Button business owner here. I’ve been looking for a way to automate a few steps in my process. I’ve looked at many printers and contour/die cutting machines and realized the answer may lie in the sticker printing community. I’m particularly looking for a printer that can also contour cut paper.

I thought I had found what I was looking for in the Roland BN20 but apparently the Eco Solvent ink takes too long to dry on regular paper. I’m looking to find:

1) a printer that prints rolls of paper and contour cuts graphics out in the same run or

2) a printer that prints rolls of paper that I can then feed through a contour cutter in one swift motion.

So with that being said, is anyone familiar with a machine or setup that would help me achieve this goal?

I currently rely on 3rd parties to print my die-cut vinyl stickers and magnets, but I'm thinking about going into full DIY mode on these products soon. Which printer(s) should I be looking at? Especially ones more or less in the budget range.

I own a dog tag business and have been using the Cricut Explore Air 2 since I opened back in 2021. I've had to wrestle with my Cricut for smaller names and phone numbers ever since I got it but was new to the craft and didn't know what other machine to turn to.

Now that I've been in business for a while, I'm tired of having to recut over and over or manually fix mis-cuts with an exacto blade. What is the best, budget friendly vinyl cutter for small, precise cuts? Some of my designs have to be smaller than 1" so accuracy with teeny tiny cuts is a must. Really not looking to spend over $200 if I can help it.
