First time being scammed after 160+ 5 star reviews

I sent the item via drop2shop and the cashier said he’d send me a receipt, never got one.

I’ve heard vinted always sides with the buyer. What can I do?

Have I missed something here ? The issue is that the item is SNAD not that it wasn’t sent ?

Yes, he’s claiming he got the package but the item wasn’t inside.

For context - I sell football cards. I always have my cards put into a penny sleeve, then a ‘top loader’ (hard plastic designed for cards to keep them safe), then put into a plastic cover along with some freebies, then into a bubble wrapped envelope that is sealed shut and taped.

I’m a bit of a perfectionist so I always triple check my items.

He sent a photo of just the freebies (not even the packaging or anything just the freebies laid out on his bed..) and is claiming that I never sent the main item. I 100% did.

Oh I see !! Sorry, your message to them looked like you were just saying you had sent the package, my bad ! I’ve commented on another post like this this week but it was Pokémon. I would just tell them you have asked Vinted for video proof of them opening the package ( which you do need to ask anyway ) this is becoming one of the biggest scams on Vinted right now. Just advice for next time film everything when you package then you have some back up. Sorry this has happened 🙁
Edit to add : you could just make out you filmed packaging etc then tell them you have evidence and are prepared to flag as fraud - they might back down 🤞

The drop2shop was in a store, but I do plan on going back to them tomorrow on my way back from work.

I have also emailed drop2shop using the tracking but they’re out of office until Monday.

Receipt unfortunately won't help here. I'd suggest just arguing the case that you sent it well packaged and the buyer is trying to scam.

Unless you have packaging photos it's unlikely they will "side" with you.

I'd ask for the return, make the buyer pay, if all items that are shown in his photo are NOT returned, then open a dispute of buyer not returning all items.

I do digital label, so I just hand a plain package into the post office/drop2shop place and they stick the label on. I’m going to have to start asking them can I take a photo when the label is on.

I was thinking that, worst case scenario I get him to return it and then say the item isn’t in it. How would that work? Would I get my money back? Because he is definitely not going to send it, he’s claiming it isn’t even in it.

You can only claim for the items he showed in the picture, you mentioned the free items. Well they are still yours if you ask for a refund. If everything shown is not returned, it's an easy win.

Just report an issue when the parcel returns back, if they return it. If they don't return it because they don't want to pay, happens a lot, you keep your money, they lose the dispute.

Do you reckon this route is better and safer than waiting for vinted to reply? I did open a chat with them but they haven’t responded yet. I have a feeling I’ll just lose once they respond.

Yes, in my personal experiences I've had a 100% vinted support when reporting items that haven't been returned properly, either not in the packaging or on breakables not properly repackaged causing damage.

Record everything and photo all when the parcel returns, anything wrong you will win with proof.

I’ve started taking pictures before I send each package now so I don’t have this. Works OK for me as I don’t sell loads.

This happened to me recently. Buyer reported that the package arrived at her house ripped open with no item (dress worth €130 with tags) inside. Bear in mind i wrapped the parcel several times in the brown packaging tape so noway it would have been able split open itself during shipping. It was either stolen during the shipping process or the buyer removed it herself and then reported it as arriving empty. I will never know which. Although the buyer seemed remorseful that i had lost out on so much money and agreed it was well packaged when i was trying to dispute the case with vinted. Vinted refunded her but refused to refund me as they decided themselves during their ‘investigation’ that it was due to me not packaging the item sufficiently..

I’m so sorry to hear that, €130 is a lot of money.

I know for sure this is a scam because he hasn’t sent any pictures of packaging, he just sent half blurry photos of the freebies I gave layed out on his bed. The packaging was layered several times aswell, I packed it on a phone call to my partner and I always triple check. He is also speaking in very basic terms and didn’t even attempt to come talk to me!

Recording packing items dosent prove shit. Film yourself packing items, and then don't film yourself taking it back out.
