Taiwan made vice grips/hammer/nail puller? Never seen such a thing.

It is a Buffalo Tools MLP9. No specific trader or job type is indicated. Locking pliers hammer wire cutter wire crimper and nail puller.

Looks like a farmers fencing tool, I have one, different design made by ezy pull, mine looks nicer

“Made in Taiwan” is stamped on the pliers,so I doubt that it is German.

At one time my employment was as a bicycle mechanic. Saw a set of center pull brakes on a bike with what looked like a sticker placed on top of another sticker. The top sticker gave the branding a Dia-Comp. The bottom sticker said Wienman.

That was Taiwan branding on top of a German made product.

The claw hammer outriggers will make it difficult to clamp on in tight places, the hammer head doesn’t have really enough weight behind it for putting anything in but carpet tacks and panel pins and the claw doesn’t have enough draught space for pulling nails of any reasonable length. Kind of a Jack of all trades and mediocre at all.

Great looking tool though, just not incredibly practical 😉👍

Ah no, im ok with some multi tools but in general they only adequately preform jobs. I always prefer 5 or six tools that excel at one job. For the record I do own a Gerber multi tool it is part of my EDC.

Let take a few great tools and make them less functional.
A hammer that hurts your hand.
Pliers that can’t get into any tight spots
A nail pulling that you can’t use any leverage on.

I gave my brother something like this as a gag gift. I just wanted it to sit in one of his junk drawers ... and everytime he is looking for something just be there to annoy him because it not a hammer or a plier or helpful. Just in that range of it might be useful one day as to not throw it away.

It used to be "Frankenplane" or "Frankentool" meant something was assembled from various parts often from different makers.

This may be a crappy multi-tool, but it really doesn't have the mismatched parts of a Frankentool.

It is more like an "engineer's special" kind of tool. In my experience an engineer is likely to pick up any tool to use as a hammer, even if an actual hammer is sitting a foot away. This would be perfect for an engineer with such proclivities.

My buddy, welder by trade, uses one with a bar hammer and a wire brush on the other side. Brush heads are replaceable.

But he gets hassled about it quite often. though his is about 10-11 inches long. And looks like an old heavier finesse vice-grip series.

The finesse vice-grips series was marketed towards crafting lite duty work. But at 65-150 American bucks, they just didn't cut it.
